Since you're in Mass would you tell me what shop it was so I can make sure to tell all my friends to avoid them?

Sorry to say it, but if you don't have time to get it taken care of, you're pretty much **** out of luck.

joy ride the customers car

I'm going through the same thing this week with a local transmision shop. They put over 50 miles on it, emptied a full alky (meth) tank, and wore the MT DRs down half the tread. They then charged me and gave it back running far worse then it was before, and said "they fixed it". Sorry to vent and hijack your thread, but ya kinda hit a nerve. Next time I'll lower the boost, and sleep in the trunk. Good luck.

Mike

This is the most rediculous thread I have ever read on this site. Some beotch comes on complaining and looking for sympathy and then he ends up insulting people.........

These kinds of shops are the ones that hurts all of the good shops out there for sure! I own a paint shop down here in georgia and I am also a muscle car fan so I know how it feels to leave your baby with someone else. When I have one dropped off to me I TELL them to write down the milage, etc. The car will not leave my shop during its stay with me and it will have no more than 1/10 of a mile on it when they come back from me moving it from the shop to paint booth, outside for wet sanding and buffing , etc. There are some good shops out there guys. Internet bullies are gay. If you have a problem take it to the source, don't come whining on here then insult board members who have sympathy. I have noticed other threads where you are rude and insulting for no good reason. Do you just hate the world? I don't know Russ Merritt, but I feel sorry for him if he has to put up with your attitude. Lighten up a little or go find a board where everyone likes to be rude.

Can't really come up with an explaination about the gas. But some people are just slightly askew. There is only one shop I would take any car to in town, the one I used to work at. As far as tranny shops there is only one shop and one guy I will let touch anything. I know of 2 great upholstry shops here and they are brothers to boot. Thankfully I shouldn't have to worry about those problems coming from 60+ year old men.

Hey, watch out with those 60 year old cracks.

I'm 60 and drive my GN's like I'm trying to kill them!! ;)

This happened to me too

I was getting my front suspension rebuilt and while I don't mind him giving it a baby test drive to check out the ride and all, but I noticed when I got in that my second "ghetto rigged" boost gauge that saves my maximum boost after putting the pedal to the floor read the max 16 lbs that I run on the street. Hmm... I wonder if he floored it while I was gone! ****in *******, but he did charge me half price for two days work and it rides like a beauty so I'll let him pass. Besides everything still checked out when I got home.

Damn I miss my GN though. I'm here in Hong Kong, China studying abroad through my University and have not been able to drive a car for almost 2 months! However, this is the best city I've ever visited, it's sooooooooo clean and everything is shiny! People don't kill and tag everything like they do in the US.

I'm all for a little Hong Kong style justice for people who vandalize and create grafitti. :)

Besides disconnecting the wastegate rod, are there any other tricks to make your car safer when you need to get it serviced?

I very rarely have someone else work on my car but when I do I never leave it out of my sight, and NEVER overnight (two somewhat recent exceptions are with well known engine and trans people). Upholstery work can easily be done without leaving the car.

Earlier this year I took my GN to Meineke to have a bung welded in for the WB02. When the guy was done he was showing me his handiwork. He said to me "Usually when we're done we take cars for a 'test drive', I sure wish I could take this one for a test drive....". I think he was expecting me to say "here you go Sparky, have a blast". I thanked him and left, preferring to do my own 'test drive'.
