Leaky pan for 3rd time, should I use RTV?

I've had the pan off for a 3rd time now and it continues to leak. I've torqued the bolts to the proper 6-10 ft-lbs..closer to 10 maybe a hair over, gasket is the rubber kind with Purolator filters, and its leaking at the front each time.
Should I smear a thin coat of Ultra-Black RTV on each side of the gasket this time around?
I know you don't want to put enough on it so that it may smash out to the inside.

Thats easy,pan is warped.Get another one,theyre CHEAP.

It appears to be straight with a straight edge and also sitting on a flat marble table surface. I guess it doesn't take much.
Where could I pick upanother pan over a weekend?

Brain@gbodyparts for a stocker or PTS for a NICE sheetmetal xtra capacity,or CK sells the AC deep cast pans.I think Brian will be the best shot at getting it quick,that SOB is FAST on shipping stuff out

BTW,I had a stock pan on a th350 that did the same thing,couldve sworn it was flat and it checked out good,replaced it on a hunch and problem solved.

I'm leaning towards a cast aluminum pan, do you know if the stock filter work with the deep pans?

Heck I can't find a cast aluminum or any pan for that matter on PTS or CK's website, just internal parts..

Look closely up behind the torque convertor. It colud be leaking around the pump bolts or seal and running down on the front of pan.

Hey Bruce, I'm concerned about how low that pan may sit, or any deep pan now that I've seen them, this is on my TTA and it appears that something has already scrapped the brass drain plug bolt that hangs down about 3/4".
But besides that, it appears that it may not be the pan, nor the front housing behind the convertor, but rather the seal where the gear shift level goes in at, noticed some fluid around it and there's a trail of fluid from there around to the front of the pan....and the car has not been started since I cleaned the pan and the front part, so I cleaned it all up real good with carb cleaner, will look tomorrow and see if its got another drip on it after sitting all night.

What if you try some leak detector for transmission fluid? It will show you pretty clearly where's it's comming from.

Well its definitely leaking at the gear selctor lever, now I need to figure out how to fix that...
