thats one plus where I am at. we drive about 30 min out of town and boom there is the new track location. its in the middle of nowhere we raced last night for quite some time (from 11pm and the last group of people left around 730AM today) not 1 cop there is a older lodge resort place right in front of where we race and they come out to watch.. its about the only good thing in alaska since our track is 5hrs away.

I guess his WRX is the fastest in the state he gave it a good shot but just not enough..kudo's to him and I cant wait to finish his car up he should be in the mid 11s next year after we do a full build up on his motor.

re: street racing

Going back 15 years, it seems that street races/racers used to be much safer than today (oxymoronic, I know), but most understood:

1. You raced when traffic was clear.
2. You Knew your (and your cars) limitations.
3. You were aware that others could be entering roadway in front of you.
4. You raced up to the point where you knew that you won or lost. If you lost, maybe you'd do it again but you didn't keep racing until the governor kicked in.

Today, I get ricers blowing by me in heavy traffic all the time, oblivious to their surroundings. Add in the weekly (sometimes daily) news coverage of street racers crashing and killing themselves or killing a nice family and that's enough reason for me not to race--to worried about what the other guy is going to do!

I'm sure the decline in street racing is due to increased penalties and much less tolerant law enforcement.

where I live now, if you're caught engaging in anything that could even be perceived as street racing the police automatically impound your vehicle and take you to jail immediately. zero tolerance.

as a side note, when I think about some of the stupid stunts I pulled while street racing "back in the day", I just shake my head.

This new generation is what I think caused the majority of the crack down on streeet racing. I think it's becuaes they don't have an understanding like we did back then or simply could care less. I reallize street racing is not safe but we took steps to make sure it was. Now days, these jokers want meet you up somewhere on the outskirts of town/deserted road to run'em, they want to do it down town during lunch traffic It wasn't until F&F came out that you started seeing all these damn imports crashing into soccer moms all over the place. Now, like stated above, I'm afriad to race people, you just don't know wtf they're going to do. I'll still race but I'm more selective about it. I even started going to the track...I said I would never race on a track because it was to damn boring. It maybe boring but It's a tab bit safer!

That's it exactly. The clip is a street race, no traffic coming, they even marked 60', 1/8 and 1/4 mile lines. They aren't fart piping through traffic in an imaginary race against a tuner car Honda 4 door
We would cruise in public, race in the shadows. I guess between the 3600w stereo and the dirt bike exhaust note it's hard to think right
