Heard this second hand . . . . I have not seen the car or talked to the owner . . . .

A local owner (non-member here) was street racing a Mercedes and a GTR on the highway.
Apparently . . . . around 100 mph, he accidently shifted the car into first gear.
Pulled over and shut it down. I was told that the oil pressure is OK, car starts fine, but has was is believed to be a low end knock. No water in the oil, idle is smooth . . . .

Of course my questions were;
Why did he do that? . . . . . . was he at least winning?
The answers were: Don’t know . . . . yes, he was ahead and pulling.

So . . . . what do you think the surprise will be when we start looking?

Probably sent that thing pretty high in the rpms and now has a rod knock is my guess. Might be lucky and be something broken in the valve train.

Yes . . . . I am surprised it "idles fine". I would have expected a severely bend valve and very bad idle.

Probably right . . . FWIW; Car has 206/206 FT cam, and I think 980 springs . . . . not even close to enough spring to cover 15,000 rpm.

I don't think any component in a Buick v6 will take that rpm lol.
You can always try a compression test to see if you got a valve train issue. I'd try everything before pulling. Run it with the belt off to make sure its not an accessory making that noise too. Check the torque converter to flywheel also. Would suck pulling it out just to find something dumb.

Actually, I know the guy . . . . He is actually a good guy who made an honest mistake that will/may cost him dearly . . . .
As simple as getting a BIG boost spike . . . . honest, but potentially costly.
