I want to clean mine uP before sending off to paint jail, let see some inspiration. I really wish I had the space to pull the frame out and get it powder coated but I don't. so I'm going to have to get creative how to strip and paint it all with body raised 8" at most

mine is a driver with ok looks im not into restoring right now im into having fun ... Why spend all the time in doing all the restoring to get rock chips from driving ? I plan on getting a GNX to look pretty beside vanna white 1 day

I'm not really sure rock chips will do to much harm if restored right..sold my C6 with 15k miles driven hard and when the new buyer put it up on a lift was amazed how flawless everything still looked. And that car was a daily driver rain/slush everything. The GN is just a show/weekend driver.

On this note, was there any coating on the frames at all or were they just shipped with bare steel?

They were covered with cosmoline.

Mine is here. Coated with Eastwood ceramic chassis black.

Looks great. That's what I plan on using. What finish is that? Satin? Did you take the body off?

It's Satin.

And No the body didn't come off. In fact most everything you see in the picture stayed in place. I unbolted the brake and fuel lines and held them out of the way while I sprayed under them. The bottom of the engine cradle I laid on my back on a creeper and sprayed it.

It's tough stuff but it's kind of a PITA to get mixed. I used a bent piece of welding rod in a electric drill to get all of the ceramic off the bottom and the stuff need a good clean surface. It's not powder but it's close
