I am building a liquid intercooler setup and I have a few questions about the resevoir in the trunk.

First, I have an external pump, but would I be better off with an internal fuel pump in the tank?

Second, would it be better for the tank to be plastic or aluminum with insulation around it?

Finally, is there any aftermarket fuel cell/fluid tank that will fit in the spare tire well nicely? It doesn't have to be a custom fit tank, just something that will sit down in there so I can still put stuff in the trunk if I need to. I am thinking a 3-5 gallon tank.

Thanks!!!

i installed a liquid cooler on my friends GTP, used an external pump on it...superflow 2000 or something like that. it worked pretty good. his unit only had a fill tube, no overflow tank. if ur lookin cheap maybe check out an fbody coolant tank!

look at that monster on the left! hth!
or check out an 85 monte tank!

Are you going to use this for race only? If so, then the tank in the truck is the better route.
If street use, then I suggest use a radiator infront of the air condenser unit like the way ATR did their unit, instead of a tank in the trunk.
A sureflow pump works great for either application.

I am unfamiliar with the ATR setup...anyone have pics? This will be mostly race use, but the car will see some street miles in the summer/fall and I will probably drive it to the track (about 120 miles)

I have a brand new in box metco fuel cell that is custom fit to the spare tire well. I paid 225.00 at BG but I will sell it to you for 150.00 plus shipping. it would be perfect for a liquid intercooler setup it has AN fittings on it that work work perfect for you!

On the kit above, I was thinking the intercooler could sit where the stocker does....just make some brackets....... and mount the heat exchanger in front of the radiator like a front mount. Looked pretty simple to me, cheap too.

ABOMB, that's a pretty inexpensive setup! I'm kinda looking into that now too. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, let me know if you try it or something close.....I am real curious to see how this kind of setup would work.... I had a stock intercooler in real good shape and a dutt neck in my parts pile. So I went the dutt neck route and to be honest it was a hassle. With the time and effort I spent getting it done I wish I would have got the liquid kit or an aftermarket stocker ready to drop in. Car is still not running yet but hopefully this weekend............

Its really all dependant on what you want to spend. There are many pumps that are very affordable to do the job. On my set up im running an external pump with a feed and return line to the trunk. There i have a aluminum cell for the water and ice. They make pumps that can be mounted in the water , but the external is much simpler.

Ryan I sent you an email.

Good to see Ryan is back, now he can ship my parts out he owes me. I will take the fuel cell minus $50 off the price.
