Hi, On my block I have thin wires going around the cylinders on the deck. Are these S/S loc-wires? My heads are GN1's and are stock with no recieveing grooves. There was copper headgaskets when this engine was together. Can someone tell me if this a correct setup? I'm rebuilding this motor and want to make sure I do it correctly. Thanks

O-rings are the thin wires going around the chambers.

Loc-Wires is a groove approximately .010" deep and forgot the width. With the Loc-Wire groove alone, you need to run a special gasket.

With a copper gasket, the theory is the o-ring wire pushed the gasket into Loc-Wire forming a seal.

So my heads should have loc wires to be correct? I don't know what to do. I could have the orings machined down and run the rjc head gasket kit?

No. You need to use copper head gaskets (SCE or similar) and pay attention to water sealing around the water ports. The SCE gaskets (Titan) have silicone beads around the water ports. Leave the O-rings in the block. They will help seal the combustion gasses. Good system. Be prepared to use some GM coolant tabs to seal the water leak issues, that some experience with copper head gaskets. Use the Titan gaskets listed here: http://www.scegaskets.com/pdf/SCE Catalog.pdf

These are receiver grooves (Loc-Wire)
