Gonna buy a Snapper Rider. Not a tractor. I've used my neighbors, and it's a PITA in all the turns. The rear engine riders turn much easier. Not sure on which to get. 28" or 33" deck. My buddy owns the store and usually gives me a super deal which can make the 33" very attractive. With the bagging and mulching kit you're looking at about 2500. I'm thinking the 28 will do just fine, but I always gotta get the best one! I'm trying to reason w/myself.. :) The 33 comes with a Indust/Commercial 15HP Kohler motor arh arh arh

Still the 28 is nice and comes w/OHV 12HP Briggs...anyone have any advice that will make this easier?

Think of it as you would a performance part upgrade for your Buick......."should I get 36 lb Blue tops or MSD 50's".

Sure, the 28" mower will cut the lawn just like the Blue tops will put gas in the motor, but you might as well fork out the money now for the 33" so you don't have to upgrade later! Plus you will have more POWER, and each pass ya make is an extra 5" wide cut. You will finish mowing sooner, which will allow more time for "other" things.

I have an older Snapper 33" and I love it.

Yea, that's pretty much the way I'm rationalizing it. On the other hand, my lawn is not going to get bigger, (or faster like the buick:)
and I'm doing it now w/a self propelled 21" Snapper, so I would be gaining 7" over my current setup.

I've got an '89 model 33" 11 HP Snapper. Works good. My only complaint is the flywheel that turns the drive wheel to make it go doesn't work so good when it gets wet (slips). Also on the new ones, there is a deadman pressure switch under the seat you need to defeat. Otherwise if you lean out to grab a limb on the ground, the mower will cut off. They are good mowers, turn in a tight radius and go between alot of the shrubs where my 38" tractor couldn't. I like 'em. I think Ed and I should race!

a John, lonely in the chan today, come keep me company! :)

Yea, the turning radius is a big plus. My yard isn't HUGE...but it's enough to keep me busy for 1.5 hrs w/a 21" mower...which is about an hr more than I have to spare each wk! Got too much **** going on!

I saw on this OLD HOUSE a robotic unit that runs on 2 motorcylce batteries. You lay a guide line around the yard & it will never mow outside that area. It goes along it merry way. No gas, no time wasted.. more time for family & cars.. Drawback COST!

I have both type mowers Front & rear. The rear makes the turns way better for closer cuts

If you have that kind of scratch to spend, why not get a ZTR type mower. It will turn tighter then any rear engine or front engine mower, and uses hydrostatic drive instead of a gear transmission of the old rubber/metal wheel type.

Forest Gump!

I have one and I don't even have a yard anymore, but I just couldn't let the thing go.

Pulls wheelies.

Oh and cuts pretty well too.

I've had it since I was 15...17 years later I've never replaced a belt. Only maintance has been a few blades, reg. tune-ups, and oil changes.

I have to admit that I have been scouting the Jr dragster stuff in Jegs thinking of what I could do to turn it into a racer. That lawn mower racing looks pretty cool to me. + it's cheap. Unlike my other hobbies.

I bought it when I was mowing 15 lake lots every summer............beats the hell outta pushing.

Them auto ones are geeeeh :) take like a week to do the whole lawn, just goes around and bumps into things lol..like that auto house vaccuum too !

Yea, the zero radius ones are cool, if I owned a landscaping company I would have one for sure. Little over kill for a lawn my size though!
