I'm planning a trip to Chicago for my wife, myself, and another couple for our anniversaries. Looking for some cool things to do, where to stay, things along the way from Minnesota. Probably be a long weekend trip leaving Thursday and returning Monday.

Any ideas are welcome, I know quite a few of you are from Chitown.

Thanks, Cory

You could go to the south side and watch the "gun fight at the dope den". [Modern version of Gun fight at the OK corral.] Repeats hourly....:D

The last time I was there, we stayed at the Hilton on Michigan Av. Close to many attractions.

You can go to the lounge at the top of the Hancock building for a drink. It is a pretty cool view at night. Navy Peer is always fun too. I am somewhat new here and don't go to Chicago much.

Be prepared for traffic. Every time I've driven through, even at three in the am I sat in traffic. I started going around on 43.

That said the industrial museum is suppose to be cool. My dad talks about some kind of flea market he used to go to but that was 50 or more years ago. Sears tower?

Sounds like a fun trip.

Thanks Guys. I'm going to just keep track of the comments and plan something cool using them.

I can't help much as I try and avoid the city as much as possible, but the obvious ones are Navy Pier, Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower). There is Lincoln Zoo that is in the city, heard it's nice. Brookfield Zoo is south of the city in Brookfield, IL and is the best zoo I've ever been to.

Also, a buddy of mine works for this place... http://www.wendellaboats.com/ Very nice boat tour down the Chicago river that cuts through the downtown area.

Yea, bring the GN too.... You wouldn't last 5 min...

Depends on where you're coming from... Driving the Dixie Highway is a nice ... slow.. but very scenic route... just google "Dixie Highway" Passes thru a lot of quint towns... including my Chitown area... Momence. =) Happy Travels

Shed Aquarium....but the lines are long and it has gotten pricey. Check out the German U boat at the Museum of Science and Industry. I haven't been there since they enclosed it. Apparently German metal was rusting away outdoors. If you like home theater check out Abt on Milwaukee Ave. in Glenview, north of the city. They also have a huge car stereo dept.

Don't worry about guns they are banned in Chicago.Lol. The 95th floor at Hancock is nice. Check out the sky deck at Willis tower.Brookfield Zoo is great. Get a beef at Als on Taylor St. The best beef in the world. Then walk across the street to Mario's Italian ice. Gino's East for Pizza.. You should be coming down 1-90 check out Botanic Gardens. Check and see who is playing at Ravinia.Or as stated above Navy pier is cool. I just hate traffic. Make sure the cubs, sox or any other sports teams are not playing the weekend you come out otherwise you will see all the traffic you can handle. Good luck and have a good time.

Hey No boys town.....he is coming here with the family!
The Navy pier is nice along with the boat rides, actually the whole lake front is nice. If you're heading up into Wisconsin, the Dells and House on the Rock is pretty cool too!
