I am wanting to get into the 10's. I am estimating I'm running in the mid 11's now. Best time I've had so far, prior to some recent mods (heads, cam, rear lower control arms, air bags, and Hoosier 26 x 9" Drags on stock rims) was 12.2 @106 mph at 5600 feet elevation. Race weight @ 3780 (Completely stock interior and spare tire).

Here's what I got: TA49, Terry Houston DP, MagnaFlow 2 3/4 " Exhaust w/ electronic cut-out, Champion Racing Heads, Reed 205/205 cam, .009 injectors, Red Armstrong XP fuel pump, Billet adjustable fuel reg, BIG Mouth cold air intake w/K&N 9" (stock MAF), Thunder Fabrications Intercooler, stock upper plenum w/Power Plate, Scanmaster, Caspers 8 position thumbwheel chip, TPS-TEC, 200r4 w/Street Brawler 2800 stall, Art Carr Super rebuild & shift kit, 10 vein pump, and Billet Super Servo.

Running 20-22lbs boost w/100-105oct + a 75 shot N2O (fogger)
STOCK: Intake manifold, upper plenum, crank, pistons, and rockers.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I'd work on my fuel delivery long before I thought of a bigger turbo with all those mods.

Are you referring to bigger fuel pump, injectors, fuel rail or all of the above? This is what I need to know. I ultimately want to be in the low to mid 10's and I am looking for the right turbo combo without changing too much. Whatever I have to do I DEFINITELY want to make this the last turbo upgrade. So if you could be so kind as to be a little more specific I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Most likely would need 63-72lb. injectors and modded ECM or a felpro system.

Reds double pumper or the ATR version or else a new pump system and lines.

Not sure what the stock lines are good to.

Time for the search feature I guess, I'm not that fast. ;)

stock fuel lines will work

need bigger injectors (72 min) and more pump as stated (double pumper)

28 inch slicks will be needed

if you want to buy once, go to a 70 series turbo and you'll need more stall in your converter (like 3600 min)....you'll have to get rid of the stock type converter

with that much weight, I doubt low 10's is possible with a 109 block.....mid 10's will be the max (my car weighs 3720)

You definately have altitude and weight working against you.

You will have alot of expenses to make it into the mid 10's, especially if you are running the stock bottom end.

I would agree with everything Woody suggested and I would also recommend trying to get the weight of the car down to 3500 or less with driver in order to make sure your car lives at that level.

Thanks for the input guys.

It sounds like I might need to take a few more baby steps before going to the 70 series. Can you tell me what might be the best and biggest turbo for the setup I already have, if I were to just replace injectors & turbo?

Thanks again.

With that converter?

Ball bearing 65 from Cottons.

I'd still get the modded ECM and the 72's and dual pumps too.

Any other turbo than ball bearing and you will most likely need a converter or trans break to make any boost.

I'd get the supporting stuff first which would also include a converter however.

From what I understand, combination is everything on these cars. Obviously this can become very expensive if you don't get it right. I've been doing some more digging and it looks like I will be going with a TA61/62 or TE62/63/63-1.
I don't know enough about these and what combos work out the best. The most I would be looking to do is upgrading fuel delivery, and converter. Any feedback on these turbos and what converters might work well??

How does this turbo compare to the one's I mentioned. BB turbo's are kind of pricey too eh?

Yes getting into the 10's is very pricey. :(

You seem to want to change what you are doing more often than I change my underwear so I can't help you much. :D

I only recommended the ball bearing option if you were keeping the 2800 stall converter.

I would go with a 3400/3600 stall converter and a big shaft turbo.

I think one of the 63 versions is a big shaft and so is the 45.

For 10,s you should look at Woody's mods. AZGN as posted above.

He can get you there, oh not cheaply either. ;)

Good luck.

Post what you intend to do after your research and believe me you will get responses, both good and bad. :D

thanks

Hey, thanks for all your help, I really appreciate you taking your time to help a rookie out.
I'll keep in touch from time to time let you know how it works out.
The time slip will tell. Unfortunately, not until next Spring.

:)

thanks

Thanks Woody for your help also. It looks like I still have a ways to go. I thought I had enough crap done to the car to just upgrade the turbo. I guess its back to the drawing board.

Can you tell me how your TE45 compares to say a 62/63 series?

What´s the difference between a TA-49 and a TE-45? How much would a TA-49 accomplish.

What else would be adviced to fix during the winter? The sad part is that I´m on a rather tight budget.

I´ve just ordered new 50´s today, and in a month I´ll have my tranny rebuilt. During the winter I´m gonna install a set of ported and swirl polished heads (from a front wheel drive Pontiac, should flow alot) that I got along with the car.

Combo and time in the sign.

Thanks
/Andreas
