just read an old post about these. Are the lt1 springs that are being used from the original ''70'' lt1 or from the late model 92-97 lt1?

i'd guess that it would be the late model LT1-maybe even the LT4 springs- and i've even heard of people using the beehive springs from the LS engines.

so thats 1 vote for early lt1 and one vote for late model lt1:confused:

mine was just a guess.. but it makes sense that the old school LT1 springs would be the go-to spring to get- they are probably the cheapest valve springs you are gonna find and they are designed for 7000+ rpm blasts in in the old LT1.. but the LT4 spring has more or less superceded the LT1 spring in the GM Performance Parts catalog, and the LS beehive springs have been out in the wild for 14 years now and are getting more common.

thanks for the replies. it seems like either will do as long as they are no more than 105# seat pressure.

Go with the LS1 valve springs.

I have seen 6 different sets of heads from stock to race use those springs with no problems at all. The added benefit is that the motor loves to rev up wherever you want it.

I highly recommend it.

originally they were the 70's LT1 springs,
not sure now days what they are,
here an old list for spring rates, I'd stay as light (lower number) as I could get away with, to prevent premature cam wear.

OD(in.) Closed# Open# Rate(#/in.) Part number

(Sealed Power numbers)

> 1.23 85 230 295 VS1615
