Lt4 starter users.... Shims?????

Hey guys just installed an lt4 starter. It seems I need to shim it..a lot. Anyone else with this problem. I have a jw flex plate if that matters. Thanks VINNY

I am running LT4 stater and did not need any shims on mine

Me three, bolted on with no shims, using a cat flexplate. Must be luck of the draw

Good point, never thought of that! I used new gm ones for the vette.

you know I should double check that if the bolts are bent....is there a spec as far as the clearance between the gear and flexplate....

New bolts and no shims on my LT4 starter. No grindings either.

it's easy to tell if the bolts are bent- the starter wobbles as you take them out..
