Where and what wire AND the BEST way to install a manual switch to control the lock-up on the convertor?
I am trying to control the lock-up while crusin' around town.
THANKS for the help/info.

Thanks for the reply
What is the A and F terminal---?
So, I need a single pole(like one at Radio Shack or Auto ZONE)---1 lead IN and 1 lead OUT on the switch.
Then, 2 spade connector and wire.
Connect the wire to the spade connectors and other end of wire to the switch.
---Push the spade connectors(in the FRONT of the ALDL service port) in terminal A and F........

WHILE driving ----turn switch off----torque convertor will NOT lock-up. For interstate crusin'--turn switch ON----torque convertor will lock-up and work like normal.

CORRECT????

THANKS for the HELP

Terminal "A" is the upper right pin on the ALDL, "F" is the upper left. The way it will work is if the switch is off, the converter will lock from the computer signal. If the switch is on, it will lock the converter (in 2nd, 3rd,and 4th), bypassing the computer command. The transmission is designed so you can't lock the converter in 1st regardless of the computer command or switch position.

THANKS
OK.....whatever the gear(except 1st)----flip the switch---it will not shift(either up or down)
Thanks for the reply!!

The transmission will still shift. If you lock it in 2nd, your 2-3 shift will be short and abrupt. I don't recommend you lock the converter until you are at least in 3rd.

The reason I STARTED this was While riding in town, it will shift into overdrive(4th) and the power SUCKS.......I have adjusted the Trans.cable. But it still shifts to overdrive at low mph/rpm--on the open road it shifts correctly.
So, when would the switch to used to keep this from happening???
Thanks for the HELP

Locking the converter will not keep it from shifting early. It will actually make it shift sooner. If the TV cable is adjusted correctly, the trans will normally shift into high gear (4th) at around 42mph under light throttle. If you don't want it to go into 4th, you could just put it in manual 3rd. At what speed is it going into 4th under light throttle?

Around 30mph--SOMETIME---then other times around 40mph. Most of the time when shift around 30mph, I am "sightseeing"taking it easy or behind someone. The 40mph shift-- I am lightly getting into it.
I would like to get it to shift ALL-the-TIME around 40mph. ANY suggestion???? I take-it, the switch for the lock-up is not the solution???
THANKS for the HELP!!!

It sounds like you don't have your TV cable adjusted right. It should never shift into 4th at 30mph. Try tightening the TV cable a couple of notches. I assume this is a "BRF" transmission.

What is a BRF trans.---how do I tell?
This is the stock trans that came in the car.......I guess(I am the 2nd owner).
The guy I bought it from(he bought it new) said it was all orginal equip (110k miles when I bought it). But who knows?
I put a art carr deep pan and the 7004r filter on it after I bought it.
THANKS again for the info.

Look on the right side (passenger side) of the transmission near the tail shaft. There should be a yellow tag with the letters "BRF" on it. That designates it is for a 87' Buick turbo car.
