Is it necessary to achieve a higher rpm past what mine does already when i just put it in drive?? My 2-3 shift point is right around 48-4900rss. Would there be any real benefit to reving it past that point? or did the motor already make its max torque when it shifts at the point stated above.

thanks

jojo

Leave it in drive, unless you have ported heads/ and or cam.

Cool, so im assuming my shift points now are good, and that the motor has made its max torque with the shift points by itself.

thanks

Joe, Are you going by the factory LED tach? If so, you could be shifting at anywhere from 4500-5500. It is very inaccurate. I would say with your combo, 52-5300 would be about right.

I have to disagree with Scott......5000 rpm max on a stock headed/stock cam motor is more than enough...I do agree that you should not rely on the stock tach to determine shift points..a "real" tach or fast scan tool (like DS) will provide better info

Hey Scott and azgn according to the scanmaster it popped into third at right around 4850-4900.

thanks

Joe, Just remember the scanmaster only updates every 1.5 seconds or so. So you cant rely on that either. I love the programmable shift light I bought ( I think you've seen it) I have mine set for 5600. I figure by the time I see it and actually shift, its around 6000. The light was about $50.00 or so, easy to install and easy to program. Later.
