I think Bob just brewed up a translator-type spark adjusting box for stock airmeters or Max Effort-R cars.

Methanol would kill that airmeter in a second I bet LOL or at least make it think it is 40 below zero .

In that case I would put the airmeter in the stock location :)

Spark Translator.

Just what the Doctor ordered....

Almost ready.

BTW, I would not inject liquids thru the LT1 MAF, While it would probably survive ok (not Methanol tho) It would be tough to ensure the same amount of 'stuff' went thru both sides of the MAF. I think the density of the water/alky would skew the calibration as well.

Heya Bob, any ideas on a general price range for the Spark Translator??? I've got one of the old original Translators(before the Plus version came out) and would like to maybe add the Spark Translator to my car...

Thanks for the new products you're developing!!! :D :D :D

It should be about the same as the MAF Translator, 179.00 +/- any discounts.

The intent is to tap into the ECM wiring under the dash / inside the glovebox....

hmmm...Just my wishful thinking...I was hoping it would be something more like the difference in price between the Trans and the Trans Plus... :(

now hold on a minute. if i bypass the flux capasitor and fluxuate the primary longitute valve my calculations determine that perimeter a/13x would therefor void the mass airflow sensor.:D sorry i had to write that. you guys are way over my head. you damn school learnt boys is way more learnt then me.

Ah,I see your dilemma. You should be looking at a/12.9xy for that function. You see now?:D

Liquids?, Heck no. But, a properly designed system wouldn't allow for that anywho. I guess we could get silly about it thou and talk about what ssize particles we consider atomized, and the difference from that to vaporized, but that kinda nit picking. After a while when you talking really small particle size its just about particle size, and atomization, vaporization is just the means to the end.

Is there somehting about methanol fumes and Nichrome?. Again, not as a liquid.
And why not include the cooler air temps in the calculation?. It is want the engine is injesting. Again kind mute if your running a true MAT sensor.

With the blow thru you don't need the wing, since the air is EXTREMELY repeatable in how it's delivered, across the sensor. Screenless and vaneless works out perfectly, once calibrated CORRECTLY. Key word again is correctly.

Methanol, water in molecular weights and related issures are a pretty close match. Would just be like a day with 200-250% humidity. Or an average summer day in Ohio.

For anyone who has the MAF in the upipe, what is the driveability difference like, is throttle response snappier? The mushiness of my TR in general is something I don't like.

Is it a cure all?.
No.
If the car is set up wrong, it won't cure that.
Can it improve an already good car?, yes.

It's like any modification, it needs tuned to be it's best.

You're quite welcome.Us technical guys gotta stick together.;)
Bruce,I was wondering about doffing the maf screen, but not the divider vane.I remember reading a while back where you dumped the screen and vane, but ended up making another vane to retrieve some lost driveability[correct me if I'm wrong].
If I loose the screen on the relocated maf, does that change anything?

I've done a serious amount of playing with the MAFs.
If you want to take the screen out, you will need to recalibrate the tables ans scalers for the MAF. If your going to take the screen out might as well take the vane out to, since your into spending some time to get things calibrated right.

If you want to try removing the screen and going with making a new cross shaped vane, you can get close, but close is a relative thing. I always wound up with lean and rich spots doing that.
