I thought a "microdickectomy" was having a small penis above you A$$hole!

Were you thinking about a "microdiscectomy"?

That was great lol

That will teach me not to proof read. Yes I meant Microdiscectomy.

Wife had it, 6-8 weeks for recovery at home for her, probably week or so for young, good shape otherwise, man, lasts 10-15 years. LESS if you play sports, heavy lifting, etc.

microdickectomy....i knew thats what you are going in for!! i hope you feel better now that your "little problem" is taken care of. do you plan on having a prosthetic limb attached in its place?

microdickectomy!....waaaaahhhahahahahaha

One thing for sure

When I get my prostetic, I know exactly where Im gonna slam it!;) Back to the topic, I never knew that this was the kind of surgery that eventually loses its effectiveness. That has not been mentioned in the reading and other info sources Ive checked. I thought if its fixed and U dont re-injure the area u were all good.

Perhaps it depends on your age when done. My wife was in her late 40's and has problems again with it, check with your doctor!

I had minimally invasive microdiscectomy in May 2006. The "surgeon" was not really a surgeon. He is a anithesiologist, and NOT a board certified surgeon. Lesson here..........Check the credentials of the doctor you are seeing. Check his record. Look him/her up on this web site: Browse Doctors | RateMDs.com If they do not show up on this site, that is not a concern. It only means that no one has reported anything (good OR bad) about them. Check with the county court records to see how many law suits have been filed against them. IT sounds CRAZY, but Doctors are nothing more than people mechanics. How many GOOD car mechanics do you know??? Same goes for doctors. Just because they have a piece of paper on the wall, doesn't mean they can really do the job. I have watched TV shows were they showed the "best" surgeons fixing the spine of some poor soul, and I am thinking........"Man...I can do a MUCH better job of fabbing a stainless mesh and installing screws!!!!!"
My surgery was a BUST. It now is worse than before. I have to take pain meds to get through the day. (vicoden) At least I can still walk, but just getting up out of a chair is a struggle sometimes. My legs and feet are numb, and in pain CONSTANTLY. I have seen two other surgeons since I found out about my doc. (he was on the News....   ...That's how I found out about his license suspension.) He has since conviced someone that he is qualified to keep cutting on folks.
I will probably have to have it fixed in the near future, but the surgeons I have talked with have told me to just keep taking pain meds and "live with it". Hind sight is always 20/20.
Good luck with your operation. I do know guys that have had good results from the operation. I really hope you find the right doc. You will also have to lay flat for a week and not hardly move. THAT was the hardest thing for me. It was a daily struggle to just lay flat on my back. But, if I tried to get up, the "wierd" sensations in my lower back reminded me to LAY STILL!!!!!!!
Good luck.

Helps to be in good shape. Obviously the less weight you have to carry around, the better. If your going to have physical therapy afterwards work hard at it.

BTW, my wife went to the surgeon for the NY Giants, and had many player recommendations! Know what your getting into before going under that knife!

Any time you or someone you care about needs surgery, do as much research as you possibly can on everybody involved and also on every aspect of your surgery. Really...a bunch of my family and friends are in the medical field and I have heard some really crazy stories. I had connections years ago when I broke my neck and I can tell you that it really helps to be knowledgeable. I remember when I met the "gas guy" before my operation and I asked so many questions he thought I was in the med field. Kind of makes them more aware because you might call them out for doing something wrong. Also do everything they tell you for recovery, if you don't you will regret it later.
