What affects your MPGs. I'm getting 11mpg. think i should have better then that. what can i do. i have 70mm throttle body and penlum,42lbs injectors, TE44c turbo, 3.5 mass air flow with translator, walbro fuel pump, headers, 3inch down pipe. 2.5 exhaust. bigger cam think 208

Sounds like it's been modified quite a bit. Driving style is the easiest way to increase MPG as well as dropping the boost down. The throttle body and turbo have increased the volume of air and consequently fuel so your MPG will be much lower than stock.;)

Right foot and chip, lean cruise option works well, especially with highway commuting.

Need to lean out your cruise mixture after you get it running right. Right now you're burning twice the fuel you should be burning.

I have and use lean cruise in my BB chip and I only get around 19/20 mpg. but I can't go a whole tank without atleast a few full throttle blasts.

If I could keep my foot out of it for a whole tank I'm guessing I might be able to get 23/24 out of it but where is the fun in that, I might as well sell it and get a POS honda if I was looking for MPG.

Hell my 68 GS 400 with a built 455 4spd. and 3.90 gear gets what you are getting now so yeah you are dumping fuel either do to your foot or your tune.

As mentioned above, converter, tire diameter, driving habits, tune, or a transmission going bad. I would start w/the tune, in your translaator, you should have fuel /timing adjustments, assuming you are running one of Eric or Bob's chip's. Which may have additional tuning abilities.(Don't remember.)
My old 86 combo would get as high as 25mpg w/l/up, and 21mpg w/non-l/up on the 87 stroker.(14 mpg w/constant lighting -off the turbo!)

I would start w/the tune, in your translaator,

If using a translator you can only use the additional tuning in it if you hook up the two wire connection [white grey] as per the instructions that come with the translator.

Otherwise you will only have the ability to tune in the chip regardless of whether it's a TT or BB chip.

Oh man you got me beat by 1 mpg. I have the same issue. 3k stall, exhaust, 3102's, 204 can and less compression than a fart. I'm pretty sure the can and compression plays a part in mpg. Its been suggested to run a closed loop idle and add a touch more timing in 1st. I'll be trying this out today and see if it helps. 10 mpg in town sucks.

Thanks everyone for you input. I have a TT chip for alcohol injection. whats the lean cruise option? how do I access this. I have a PAE 2800 stall converter. I think maybe I need to get stock chip. I told Eric my scan master readings he said every things fine i don't need to tune. I want to tune it though, I just don't know what to tune I been reading a lot ,& don't know why to do. rob zombie I don't have translator plus I don't know what the difference is either.

Bob Bailey in the extender/extreme chips and perhaps others has a lean cruise option.

Eric may as well....

Another factor that may cause those numbers is using the fuel gauge in any way to measure gas mileage, that's a no no.

The stock chip was never all that great for mileage in MHO.

1st gear timing won't do a thing for you unless you ride around town in 1st gear....

are your 42# injectors the 009's that are non linear as hell and a PIA to attempt to nail them down for power and street manners?

What's your A/F ratio while riding around?

Actually more like 14.7-15.3. I don't have cruise but I try to keep the pedal steady.

Tire width and lean cruise mixture is 95% of the determining factor of mpg, besides driving style of course.

Pete

I added a one piece air dam. Also lowered fuel pressure and zip tied all vac hoses. Can't think of anything else to do besides try a different chip and throw the stock wheels back on with 255/60s on the rear.
