What are the best possible mufflers for the hot air turbo buick? I am having a friend at a local MIDAS customize a 3 inch dual exhaust system for me, eliminating the crossflow over the axle junk. I plan on using two separate mufflers parallel to each other with the driveshaft separating them, but what mufflers are worth the power and value? Already in the plans are a free flow three inch cat, just after the three inch dump pipe. Money isn't any object, but I am looking for max gain. HP HP HP.

Thanks everyone!!!

John

basically you need a free-flowing muffler

turbo cars dont like back pressure, so you shouldn't use flowmasters or mufflers of that type

some types you should look into
are the

ATr stainless , pitbull mufflers, these sound reall nice for a turbo v6

i got these prices out of the atr catalog

3" x 11 is $110
3" x 13 is $ 120
3" x 15 is $ 130
these are oval shaped mufflers

and well if your looking for
cheaper Route, alot of guys use the Hooker aero-chamber mufflers that come as part of the Catback exhaust systm for the
G bodies.

they are just a lil louder then stock
and they run around $60 each

you can look them up under www.summitracing.com or www.jegs.com

and if u wanna get in touch with atr
the number is # 864-972-3800

go up to the "search" option and type in mufflers and just read Up

you will see what alot of people run themselves:D

I researched this a little and ended up buying a dynomax ultra-flow welded muffler.........alumanized, heavy gauge, and straight thru design. Car doesn't run yet but it sure looks purdy :D

Any one else like what they got? I cant just get rid of them, being that I am in jersey (really tough emissions), so I figure, whoever has a darn good set, let me know how it is. Pitbulls are nice, but a little high $$ just for one? I am definately considering them however. Are they loud? Or just a bit over normal?

thanks everybody!!!

John

I run a single exhaust system which starts right where the cat used to be. It runs straight back then angles to twords the left rear tire where it meats up with a 4 inch Ultraflow muffler. It stops at the axle and has minimal bends. Sounds great and did wonders for power going from the cheesy Flowmaster setup.
