Been trying to tune my car with the new turbo and noticed that I had an exhaust leak on the driver side header and the number 5 cylinder. I pulled off the manifold and checked my copper gasket (installed 4 months ago) to see if it was warped or cracked. Looked fine and put it back together and it still leaks. Any suggestions on fixing this. Also I was driving my car home tonight and was pulled over for no tail lights. I checked my fuses and my bulbs when I got home and everything seems to be in order. Should I try replacing the head light switch? After I thought things couldnt get worse I noticed that my oil return line from my turbo is leaking and is leaking pretty bad. I checked my gasket and tightened it up it still leaks. Can someone please tell me what I should do to fix my problems. Thanks for your time.

Get a test light and back probe the wires going to the tail lights to see if you are getting power to them first. Then work your way back.

leaky exhaust header

I have been through this issue myself and what I did was remove the header and rig up a way to hold it steady and lay a straight edge across the faces where the ports mate with the block. Then I marked the areas that were too low with a felt marker.
The hard part is to draw file the areas or faces that are too high until you have them perfectly flat so that your straight edge touches all three ports without any high spots.
I still have to check the bolts periodically though. At least once a year I discover that the bolts need to be tightened up a bit.

Once you verify your header flanges are staight/flat ( floor model belt sander works great ), Try the Fel Pro #1400 exh gaskets. I never had leaks with these. You will most likely have to remove your turbo drain tube, and verify that the flange is staight/flat also. Over tightening here will warp the flange. Install a new gasket and snug it up. As blueta mentioned, start back probing at your tail light sockets. HTH, Brian
