My 87GN was just towed away by the cops as a stolen vehicle. I'm not in the mood to go into all the details, but my GN is gone. After 3 months and at LEAST $1500, and all the hours and hours of research and work...........it's all gone. The officer said he will try to get the insurance company to offer it to me instead of going straight to an auction, but there is no guarantee and since I put all my savings into repairing it, I really don't even have the cash to buy it even if it is offered to me.

   I'M PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess I'm putting my 93TA back together early.

Details??
Where did you get it from? How much? Did you give the police the info on who you bought it from? Did you get a title with it? If you can get a lawyer, you can probably sue the person you bought it from, if you can prove that he knew it wasn't legit, even if he isn't the one that stole it.

Can you please post the vin number here on the board, I'm sure someone would check for you. It may be a car someone will know about.

thanks
Bill

I'm interested in knowing the details too... I'm suprised you haven't been charged with being in posession of stolen property.

Was the vehicle inspected/registered??

I bought a car a few months ago that had a salvage title on it. Maryland inspected it both for safety and also ran ALL the vins on the car to make sure it wasn't part or wholly stolen.

Very strange situation.

I'd be interested in the details, too. Mine's a recovered theft and my brother's was obtained after going through abandonment proceedings. If you have a title it would be tough for them to take it away....

1500 for a 87 GN? Sounds like you bought it with no title?????????

No, $1500 was just in parts I had put in. The car was inherited from my father when he passed away.

Soooo you DO have a title in your name ???? The $1500 in parts ... they wern't of questionable origin were they ?? this doesn't make sence

Did other family members have interest in the car. I am not trying to sound insensitive. I hope you get it back.

If dad had the title to the car and you inherited it due to his passing, what is the problem?
You're right Dan...this doesn't make any sense?

im confused? so your dad owned it- you inherited it so you have to be the one on the title- whats the big deal. just go show them the title and then get it back. if you dont have the title- and your dad never had it- then the car isnt legally yours. why did they check to see if its stolen anyway? usualy as long as it has current inspections, tags, and looks drivable they wont check the VIN.
