So I parked my car down at this local hangout spot with a bunch of stores and **** tonight. I am away from my car for about 20-30 minutes. I come back and my key thing is dangling on my door and there is a little boxed hole underneath it from a screwdriver I guess...

What should I do? Contact my insurance company or what?

edit - in this month alone my car got hit by a bus and a girl driver in the school parking lot, parked. I have great luck =/.

That is why my GN goes nowhere that I can't see it.These cars are easy to steal and hard to replace.I suggest that if you really want to keep your car you don't use it like you would a Honda.I.E. taking it everywhere and leaving it parked for long periods of time without supervision.Sure you can use it for a daily driver... for a while, but somebody eventually will want it more than you do.I know you may not be able to afford getting another driver for daily use,but if you could I would strongly recommend it.

I unplug my fuel pump when I'm going to leave the car for any extended period.

I would NOT contact my insurance company. Even if the damage surpasses your deductible, I would suck it up and get fixed on my own dime to avoid any possible insurance hike. However, the police might have been interested in finding prints or other evidence that is now probably gone.

I don't know if you use a "club" or not, but at least it offers an extra deterent. Possibly the thief would have passed your car up if he had another visual hurdle to leap.

precisely! i use a club just for that, a deterent. coupled with wheel locks and audible/starter disabling alarms i love my regal as my daily driver!

are there any type of security systems that would allow us to put the steering wheel in the trunk or something? ;)

ps--just saw that nascar drinking and driving commercial :D

please bear with the noobness/ignorance:

is it hard/time consuming to unplug the fuel pump? if not, how/where?! :D

Get yourself a Steadfast colum guard . The GM tilt wheels are easy to steal . All you need is a screwdriver and 60seconds . The Steadfast protects the colum . makes it alot harder for the casual theif , that and put a switch to shut off the fuel or computer or both and you should be good to go . Throw in an alarm for the insurance discount and ****s and giggles . :D Then all they need is a flatbed .

Check your PM

stop a thief

I have a switch to interrupt the fuel pump. I will be happy to email details! Also, I installed the GM window stickers warning of a anti-theft system. I am anal about being able to see my T Type when out and about... :D

The other day a buddy told me that I needed to paint mine black because the bright red/orange looked bad.

Actually the steadfast collars are black (unless you go for the chrome or the *bling bling* gold plated one). They are the steel collars that are attached permanently to the column. Sounds like you have one of the removable ones (like the ones I believe Kirban sells). Not trying to play semantics or anything, just don't want anyone reading this to confuse the two.

My bad, I thought they were all similar. Yeah, mine's a removable lock and red in color

club, column guard, disconnect fuel pump, park with the wheels turned

Fuel Pump Kill

Could you post the fuel pump kill for all to see I have a switch and I just want to check the directions. If not could you send them to me a rfhunt@aol.com

TIA

Roger

Put a switch between the wire going from the Fuel relay to the fuel pump in the rear . The color escapes me but being my drivetrain was swaped by me in 99 into a regal the stock color i wouldnt remember . Anyone !

killer

You can run the wires to the area you tap into from ANYWHERE! I have mine in an extremely hard to find but easy for me to reach spot. The turn the wheels and park the front close to a building, etc. is good advise too.

Could someone post how to install the switch to cut off the comp or fuel

i have a club, column gaurd and top of line security system with a kill switch, and a pager so if my alarm goes off i know about it. But i am always looking for more ways to make it harder for these losers that cant get a job and work for there stuff like us to get my pride and joy

Easier than cutting off fuel is unplugging your ecm by the battery(orange wire) motor will crank and crank, but never turn over. its what i do when i leave the car at work, school, down the city, etc.....

this forum rocks!

gn85 thanks for the PM!!! and all those who passed on info!!!! just got in from work and saw a wealth of info i can't wait to start applying when going out in my T.... yeah she's my daily so I REALLY appreciate the time ya folks took into helping me feel a lil more secure when at malls, work, home etc....

ps...what does turning the wheels do? not trying to be a smart A but just curious (i will be doing it!) :D :D :D

if you park to the right of a curb or building and have your wheels turned to the right, it will be almost impossibole to tow the car away without seriosuly damaging it. i think thats what he meant...
