I have a bone stock 87 GN with 40Kmiles on the odometer, I had it checked by a few reputable guys in the nyc area and I am looking for some advice on the following upgrades such as brands and if I am missing anything:
LT1 MAF kit
maf translator
intercooler pipe
adjustable waste gate
fuel pump and regulator
hot wire kit
stock prom chip (to replace old original chip in ecm)
coil pack
180 degree thermostat
front mounted inter cooler
I could use some help in where to find the best deals and best brands for each item.. just looking to have a good solid driver, with high 12-13 capability..
I really appreciate your help...

Hartline performance could help you out with each of these items. other fine Vendors are G body parts, RJC Racing, TR Custom parts, just to name a few which I have used and have been very happy with!

ScanMaster or another scan tool
Boost gauge
Are you considering alcohol?

Most uses 160* thermostat
You will read and hear different opinions of custom ECM chips; and while you are there replace the stock injectors for cheaper combo price:
If there is a need to replace the coil pack then replace both coil pack and ignition module
Mass Air Flow Pipe with K/N filter
Vac/Boost Gauge
Oil Pressure Gauge
I personally have Air/Fuel Wide Band Gauge
GN X rear seat grace:

Stock tranny works great for Sunday drive, but if for some occasional track run then you might want to beef up your Tranny, and add a transmission cooler.
Like many would claimed, have some deep, deep pockets, cause it does get expensive, it is also rewarding, and enjoyable.
If I miss something , other members will chime in and fill in the blank.

That list is close but it skips some important steps and has some steps that just aren't nearness for high 12 capability. To run those times you just need a basically stock car that tuned up with all the preventative maintenance done.

LT1 and translator are great and should be on any turbo regal stock or otherwise. If you're building a cold air kit from scratch go ahead and start with the bigger LS1 sensor.

intercooler pipe. I have no idea what that is, and you don't need it.

wastegate is needed

pump, regulator and hotwire is part of the preventative maintenance items that HAVE to be done

don't even think about getting a stock chip it will negate almost all the work/money you're about to spend. Get a set of 60's and a matching chip and be done with it.

no reason to replace your coil pack unless yours if faulty.

you mean 160 degree thermostat

A front mount is a waste of money for what you're doing and you'll be paying money to create additional problems for no gain. With your goals a stock intercooler will do just fine a larger neck might be a worthwhile effort.

What is left off that list is a thorough spring cleaning, trans service and external cooler, rear end service, brake fluid change, new valve springs, timing set, clean out the oil pickup, oil pump blueprinting, breather bypass kit, turbo and intercooler hoses, new vacuum lines (ESP the boost control solenoid circuit), new check valves, and plugs 'n wires, and a THOROUGH visual inspection of every square inch of the car both mechanical and electrical.

You don't find too many complete stock GN's nowadays.......esp with 40K. To each his own...........I wouldn't be modding it.

Why is the first thing I see listed most of the time is a different MAF sensor???
There's is nothing wrong with a good stock MAF. A 40k mile car should have a good stock sensor. It's not a restriction and since you haven't changed anything yet...you got a long list to go before your gonna get to that level. What level is that???? Well Brian Lorenz has gone 9.8's with a stock MAF and factory ECM, so you be the judge.

Coach, with all due respect......In my opinion I'd change over to the LT1 / LS1 sensor cause the stock units crap out too often & could leave you stranded or throwing off codes. They have been discontinued for years & I don't think the rebuilt / recalibrated units are much better, leaving it a crap shoot to find one that works like new.

I got sick & tired of having to hunt around for a known good stock unit, paying close to $200 a pop, only to have it mess up in a short period of time. After the third of 4th time this happened to me...it made good sense to make the move......not only from a performance standpoint, but in a monetary one too.

Of course you'll need a translator too, but hey.....we are used to throwing money at these cars in the first place & it's a small amount in the big scheme of things.

If you change get rid of your stock MAF & add a translator it might cost you a couple hundred bucks for a good used set up ......and you'll be safeguarded from any related MAF problems that pop up unexpectedly. This way you'll have many many miles of trouble free motoring (at least as far as the MAF goes). These used MAF / Translator set ups are plentiful on the boards in the Parts For Sale section.

It's just something I'd strongly advise to anyone, based on my own personal experiences.

Pick of the new ride.. really happy with her. I did fail to mention I did all of the basic fluid changes and plugs wires. Had the car checked from front to back and again. Changed out vacuum hoses. I am toying with the idea of keeping all stock. I know they are hard to come by with low mileage...the car has fresh paint. Looks like a very good job. Not perfect.. black is very hard to perfect.

He doesn't need one yet, so spend the $$$ elsewhere. I took the screen out if mine 6 years ago and drive the shit out of it. I'm not disagreeing with they crap out, but he can add that piece of the puzzle when needed. I saw a Scanmaster was needed, and that's way way way before a different MAF

He could always just go MAFless and get the new SD chip from TT.....:D

Do yourself a favor and get the car running good first, the way it sits, then once you accomplish that add one upgrade at a time to see how your car reacts to the mod. If you add to many upgrades at one time and your car doesn't like the change you won't know what mod your car doesn't like, so ad one at a time. Believe me I made that mistake, so learn from me and take it slow, you will have better results.

Yea and it is your decision to make for sure. They are easy to make quick if you do it right, but once you start it's never really "stock" again.

It's just my personal opinion, but if I was sitting on a numbers matching 40k mile GN as clean as yours, all I would do is detail the hell out of it, make it look showroom new, and drive it once a week for pure nostalgic enjoyment.

That being said, I'd also pick up one to modify the way I wanted. That would help scratch that itch.

Good advice, car is thankfully running really well.
What would be the first mod.. again I am bot looking to make this a 10 second car.

Many have good points and opinions, and it's how far of the upgrades you want to go. Keep one thing in mind, keep all of the original components you remove, in case you decide to go back to original.
My sig. are my upgrades, but mostly all is still original, and I too still have all of the factory components.
