Last pic. Notice how Cal Hartline's glass hood survived. The pin must have broke when the core support pulled the stud through the hood without even cracking the paint.

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Man I love your car. I woulda beat that guy down within a fraction of his life. Good to see you are alright tho. Sorry about your misfortion.

Questions

It looks as though he came into your lane and hit you, is that right? What happens in a situatio like that? Are you on your own to fix or does he come up with some funds to cover your loss? Just curious. Damn, sure is a nice Buick!

I am just really pissed you will not be able to make Orlando. You put way to much work into this car for this to happen!

Do you want me to post the other pictures???

Hard for me to look at those pics... Dusty, do you plan on putting it on a frame machine??

You race at your own risk. He crossed in front of me. Had I continued straight he would have hit me in the side and I would have had both sides to repair. I'm on my own for repairs, like any one else. Had he been some rich dude he'd offer to pay I'm sure but he's your average guy like myself just racing when he can.

John, you can post them if you want.

If you want your stomache really upset the sequence pics are up on huntsville dragways site....page 3 and 4. I think I'm sick now

Brick, yes it's going on a frame machine.

Out of all this I've had many generous people offering help and or parts from this site as well as others. This will make the rebuilding process much quicker.

Dusty,

You did a hell of a job driving.
If you hit him right on the driver's door it could have been really ugly!

No doubt!!! I'm sure it's probably no consolation at this point Dusty, but your quick thinking/reactions in this instance saved your car as well as his from being much worse.. Looking at those sequence pics that you posted give a very good view of that especially seeing the ones where your the right rear tire was off the ground (shows how hard you must've turned the wheel to avoid hitting him)

In the 1st pic it looks like had I stayed in it I would have passed him by the time he got in my groove but it was much closer than that. He came into my lane hauling a$$. I thought I could turn and avoid him and have time to straighten it out but these drag cars handle worse than a school bus at these speeds.

Man that really sux!! Dusty you all ready had the baddest V8 buick here in my opinion! I wish you only the best buddy. Hopefully you will have it ready for next season.

Geeez ,does your rear tire ever come back to the ground......
that foolio owes you his life ,cause he might not be here if you did not drive so well.... :)
