Hi, I followed your progress from day 1 and I have a question.

How did you end up fixing the part of the body mount that is attached to the frame near the rear wheel well? Mine has the same damage as per your pic from page 1 of thread.

If you have a pic it would be apreciated.

I cut it out clear to the seat belt bucket-BUT DO NOT CUT OUT THE BUCKET! You will have to butt weld;) this piece in, no way around it. I don't know how the hell I got this lined up to where it worked but I did. The body will have to be up. Make sure before you cut to try to get some measurements. DOn't bother with trying to cut the patch to perfectly line up because it most likely wont happen. You are better off using the mounting nut for a reference point so you KNOW it will line up when it is done. Mine was totally hashed. All my frame repair washers were measured with a regular tape measure and ASSumptions, mostly assumptions and guesses. I can't believe the body sits as straight as it does let alond even bolt up. THat area is one of the worst ones to replace when you have a bad frame hole and a bad body hole. Take lots of measurements off good solid points so you can get it as close as possible. I would tack the patch in very loosely then set the body back down and see if the hole lines up and make sure you can get the bolt in. It's not going to be fun cutting this patch, cutting the hole, and replacing. It took me a whole day just to get it set in right, not including welding it in place. Good luck. BTW, if you can, pull the frame and do it all and be done with it. if that area has rust, I bet the frame holes are rusted and egged out also. Just as well do it all and be done with it.
 
Here's a few pics. THis is all I got then the camera died. The door striker area was cut out and rewelded in place. Can't even tell it was messed with. Definitely worth the money I spent. He couldn't get the stress cracks done because the windshield had to be pulled. He told me to go to Arnolds and get ALL METAL, and make sure the stuff isn't expired;) and grind the cracks and smear it in.

Just an update. The front clip is pulled. Still gotta swap core supports. My 275 dollar:mad: duttneck IC finally fits nicely, although the guy had to add aluminum to it because it was too short. Since the front clip is off I'm test fitting the THDP so I can get the test pipe modified to fit. Also need to install a jeep steering shaft at some point when the front it off. I have some leaks to deal with:rolleyes: which should take up an afternoon of crawling on the floor. If anybody has any tips for cleaning up T wheels I'm all ears. I'm not diggin them in their current state and it's pushing me to buy a set of 17s so Jenn will think it's a "cool" car.
 
Lolz, it seems 2+ years isn't so far out of line with a build at home. I guess I'm within that timeline so maybe there's hope after all. Getting married slowed me down a lot!
 
I feel your pain. I'm limited by no garage so work, weather, and a busier social calender all have to line up for me to get anything done. I hope to make a final push this spring before it gets blazing hot here in Houston. Good luck.
 
Trans leak is fixed finally, now I just gotta clean up the mess. Pulled the valve covers last night. From what I can tell so far the intake ports are ported, the valve springs have been replaced and it has new valve seals on the intake side. I should be able to find out if any more has been done when I pull the manifolds off to have them ceramic coated.
 
Pulled the manifolds and crossover off tonight. Much easier to do when there are no fenders on:biggrin: The driver's header has had an ugly weld job on it and it looks just as boogered on the inside. DOn't know what I'm going to do about it, might just do nothing. The heads have DEFINITELY had some work done to them after comparing them to my stock head on the shelf. Exhaust side has been gasket matched also and the port roof has been raised. Can't tell what else has been done but I wouldn't be surprised if there was more that that done.

Also do to a junk wiper arm I had on, the little teeth on the passenger side of the wiper setup is now wore. I'm sure I have another somewhere in that sh!thole out there. I did manage to get the factory blades off the spare arms I had so now I can put them on the black wiper arms I snagged in the junkyard last summer:biggrin: What a pain in the ass it was to get them off but I got it done after 30 minutes of cussin and a smoke.

Got the tail lights today also. They need some work of course, but better than pissin with painting that chrome bezel that's bubbling. Don't know when I'm going to have the money to get all the stuff coated, but I do have a box for it so I'm ready when the time comes.
 
Figured it was time for an update. I'll post pics if I ever get time. Boiler class is killing me-no time for anything:frown:

The wife had saturday off so I took advantage and made a trip to the junkyard and snagged a set of s10 spindles with complete brake setup. Pulled off the calipers and they checked out ok and hub bearings spin freely and don't seem to have any play. Looks like all I'll need to do is clean the coral reef off the spindles and straighten out the backing plates and paint it up and I'll be good to go....later days though.

I decided to put the powermaster up for sale to fund for a NEW hydroboost unit. Dropped some stuff off at the powdercoater last week and hopefully I will find the time to get my front sway bar to him and my headers. They're going to be his test subject for ceramic coating. For what he's charging me for the powdercoating, I'm sure it should be reasonably priced. Still have yet to find someone that has nothing better to do with their time so I can get that heap painted:cool: I'm not going to get hopes up on having it on the road this summer but having it painted would be a huge step. I have everything except rear fillers but those can wait.
 
When you put the hubs back on fill the cavity with grease Jesse. It shuld help them to last longer since there's a big open space behind them. May be a little messy but anything to help the bearings live is a good thing.
