My son is having surgery

Although times get tough, you are never alone. I grew up with this picture placed on our front door reminding us that no matter what trials and tribulations we will face, we are not going to go through it alone. I have read this so many times in my life time that I know it off by heart now. So my brother from another Mother, this pic is for you.

Joshua

Faith is the subtance of things hoped for evidence of things not seen.

The Lord will protect and keep Joshua safe thru all this he will also give you and your wife the strength and faith. May he Comfort you even now. One of my favorite verses is when the Lord tells Joshua to be strong and courageous, to not be terrified or discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go! Joshua 1:9.

I know what your going thru having been in charge(precept/teach other specialists) of a Pediatric Cardiology Program here in ABQ,NM, we worked on children with Congenital heart defects. We would take pictures/angiograms and do interventions on these babies hearts. The Good Lord would work thru the Cardiologist hands and thru us Cardiovascular invasive specialists and we would/could repair some of these defects in the cath lab. It was scary ad each case different I prayed daily for the parents and for the Lord to touch these kids. Children are an inheritence from the Lord blessed is the man who's quiver is full of them. It was tough to see what these parents were going thru as they handed oever their child to our care. I understand the fear(anesthesia concerns) ..we always kept them updated as to progress to ease their hearts and minds.

The roles ended up changing and now my wife and I are on the other side of the fence a whole dif. ballgame. Our youngest daughter JoJo was found to have anamolous/messed-up pulmonary blood return to her lungs that needed to be closed via deploying SS coils with dacron feathers to block off this un-needed blood flow. The tough/dangerous part was that these blood vessels arose right at the begining/ostium of the right coronay artery. If they were to mess up and let one go down the right coronary artery by accident she would have a "heart attack" because one of them little coils would/could block off her blood flow/embolize in the artery that feeds the bottom of her little heart. I wanted to assist as that was my specialty but my hands were tied (Hospital Policy)I had to TRUST God and those he was using that day, the MD. ,the anesthesiologist, my peers/coworkers to say the least it was hard to hand her over . Had to put my Faith into action and Trust the Lord for waht was happening. Thru the prayer and support from family and friends and God's Faithfulness(never will I leave you or forsake you), like the spiritual support your getting here it was an encouragement, it is wonderful to see all our Buick friends step up and encourage and pray for your son Joshua(God is with us). My family will join in corporate prayer and lift you up even now and for that day and we give thanks to God that Joshua will get thru this.

John, I read your post and my heart dropped as soon as I started to read I started to pray that he would be ok.

My wife went to her ob dr on April 16th and we found out she was going to have a baby and two and a half weeks later we had our son, he just turned 7 mo old on the 4th. We didn't have time to worry about if he was going to be ok or not we just praied that he would be ok and he was. Trust in the Lord and all will be ok. I can't think what our life would be without him and why we wanted to wait to have a baby.

I have a 4 and 5 year old myself. My wife and I have spent are share of time in the hospital with our two. We certainly understand where you are coming from and your concern for your God given miracle (Joshua). Just remember to put your faith in Lord and do not worry as Joshua is in his best interest. Your family is in our prayers. Now give Joshua a big hug and let him see your strength and that is all he will need to lick this quick.

BTW - I am really impressed with caliber of people that make up TurboBuick.com. This really shows how people from all over the United States can pull together and support others.

One of my boys had a sinus infection that almost killed him- I remember a blur of days shuffling between days at work and nights at the hospital. The support of friends and family got us thru that tense time.

I pray for You and your family , My wife when she was my GF was told by Drs. it would be unlikely she could have a child ....i always said it would happen one day , things dont always happen in our time , when we want it . But point is your in good hands . Having a 20m.o son i can relate to your fears but this will go smoothly . I thank others that have given their kindwords and shared their experiances, fears ....it has even put things into a perspective for me i could use or need one day . Take care now , next time youll be relived and have good news .
