The plans are a mostly street driven car that may see the track a couple times a year, still undecided on using a alky kit or running E85 either way not going larger than 80's on the injectors. Motor is a fresh rebuild still on the stand only performance part so far is a 212/206 comp cam. Looking to build a car that's capable of low 11's possibly high 10's, willing to give up some 1/4 mile performance for something that spools up quick since it will be mostly street driven. What are your thoughts ?

Low 11 hi10s I would go with 6262bb or jb with a 9.5 nl from dusty. And you will have some room to go mid 10s with a good tune. Just my 2 cents worth. Hopefully someone else will chime in. Good luck and hope you reach your goals!;)

+1 on what Kan said. If there's some champion irons in the combo then high 10s with traction is as good as done.

E85 ..if you have it available .. if not Alky Control kit ...

If you go E85 toss on 80's with a DW pump and Erics E85 chip .. run a 44 and with a Sharp tune you will run lower 11's and have super quick spool .. that combo is super fun on the street

what converter would you run with a 44 turbo ? E85 is all over in my area so i guess ill give that a shot, also is there any way to tell if a converter is any good i have a stock 5d that came with the motor and trans i just purchased but i have no idea of the actual condition of the trans or converter other than what the seller told me.

if its a street car 2800lu ptc from dusty. thats what i run now and spool is as fast a the stocker with the d5. you will love it if you use a te-44.

I wouldn't bother putting a convertor in , just leave what you have ( D5 with that setup) ... with E85 and the tune set correct .. it will spool just fine .. that setup is a lot of fun on the street and if you can hook it up .. its a real bitch to get around a GN from stop light to stop light with that setup. That is a proven lower 11 second setup that is simple, cost effective, and just works .. you can add in all sorts of parts and gain little if anything. The parts I listed will give you more performance per $ spent .. than anything out there.
When your bored with that setup you can up the ante to the next level ( mid 10's) - that will require a convertor / larger turbo / and simply sell your proven turnkey package to someone else
that wants to get in the game.
Its not the parts that make the cars go fast ..

Ohh and that trans better be gone through as if its a 100 % stock trans.. with the setup I have listed above .. it won't live too long

thanks for your input, couple more questions. Whats the diff between the te44 and te60, and wheres the best place to pick one up through Bison or a vendor ?

There are a few things you can do to the 44's to add a bit more.. but a box stock 44 is all your car needs for lower 11's
te44 is a 58 mm compressor wheel that can supply enough air for 550 hp .. the te60 is a 60-1 compressor wheel and can get you close to 600 hp but not a fan of it with a D5 convertor.
These are old school turbos .. that are work horses and get the job done... newer style turbo's will get you more but not by much

Maybe some other guys can chime in .. i know there are at least half dozen cars with the same exact setup I've listed above that are running your goals.. they can comment on how they run in the street ... will not disappoint .

At home looking at the converter now and there are 5's stamped all the way around it but I don't see any d's. This sound right or is this the wrong converter ?

As mentioned, the 60 has a slightly larger compressor wheel and higher advertised hp rating vs the 44 but in reality they perform about the same. There is very little, if anything, to be gained by going from a 44 to a 60 or vise versa, they are that similar. I'm running a 60 with a .63 Garrett exh housing and the spool is acceptable with the D5 but I do have a converter on the way to get the most out of the turbo.

You cannot go wrong with bison.

I agree with what has already been said, if you don't have a cage you'll get kicked out of the track running faster than 11.50, my goal was always to get to 11.50 as I prefer a street car rather than a car with a roll cage on the street. I have (3) teenage boys who still like to go on road trips, so it's still a family car. My mod's are very similar to what your looking for....

I can get you a 2800 stall lock up that will light the te-44 up quick. It's not terrible with a stock stall, a restalled stock converter is a slight improvement, the 2800 stall 10" will spool very quickly. It's just a matter of what your looking for.

As for the converter that came with the set-up. If you don't know the condition or stall speed when it was used, you can be asking for trouble by using it. If it has metal contaminated fluid, it will get back into your trans.
