Finally, it looks like my project is about to be done. I have a lot of last minute things to get done. First, I'm doing the complete conversion to the 87 coilpack/module. I figure I'll get the module from an autoparts store. I want a high performance coil. In another thread 6 sense mentioned an Accel coil. Where do I get this unit? Also, what kind of high performance plug wires work good and actually fit a hotair? I'm sure I'll have a ton more questions soon since I waited until the last minute to get things done.

cant help ya with the coil but am interested as well.

how bout them pics you were supposed to get posted?

Coil

Got my Accel coil through Auto Zone. It was actually one of the choices that came up on the computer when looking up the coil pack. It was an order part but only took one day for them to get it in. Part # was 140016. Price was $99. Ive had mine since Dec. 2001, no problems. I believe you can also get it from Summit, Jegs, etc.
As far as wires, Im running Magnecor 10mm now. Dont remember when I put them on. Been a couple years. No problems. Ive had Kirban's wires. They were pretty good. Dont use Autolite wires- no good, trust me I know. Oh yeah, what Ive been hearing nothin but good things about lately are the wires from Red Armstrong (Quad Air). They are only $24 and supposed to be great. At that price, if I needed some I would definately give them a try.

coil

I ran across some info somewhere on this board about hotter coils for the type II ignition. Some people seem to hate the type II----I have had no problem with mine. I bought 3 of these coils from local GM dealer but currently it is on my sons 86 intercooled car. He has been having a problem of blowing out the spark. Can/t give any feed back just yet as he is still doing some work on the car. I did talk to a friend who is an engineer at Delco. He confirmed that these coils are quite a bit hotter. $ 110 for 3---- wholesale.

MSD and Jacobs , plus Accel make the replacement TYPE II coil units, direct bolt on, MSD also makes a interface block for the Type II coil that has four wire piptails , to break out of the type module/coul connections, for to add MSD DIS-4 or Ignitions soulutions UNIT.

COOL 84 ? do you have POSTON's catalog?
they have all the stuff for 84-85 to 86-87 conversion , as do other vendors
