need help with cam!

I think it was your build I was talking to Dave about a couple nights ago. You should have a pretty nice engine when he's done with it.

Mine must be the exception new 980 springs new gm lifters new cam204/214 on rebuilt and break in 10,000 miles later and no wiped cam.Last motor I did had a 212/212 with crane high rev lifters and new 980 springs and never wipe a lobe on it either took it out after 4000 miles .I understand what you are saying about the break in with the weaker spring pressure but saying it will wipe the cam every time. wasn't so in my case.

I didn't experience this either and I did springs and cam about 25k miles ago in 2011. I will go roller someday, but many are right in that it's a combination of issues that cause failure. My simple builds are fine with simple FT cams.

Intake @.006 opens 23 BTDC

Intake @ .006 opens 23 BTDC, closes 77 ABDC Int CL 112
Exhaust @ .006 opens 72 BBDC, closes 38 degrees ATDC Exh CL 112
No advance ground in LSA 112

I the comp 206/210 roller at 112 LSA COMPARABLE , IF NOT WHAT IS?

You'd want to get me the open/close@.050 to have a similar idling cam since the duration at higher lifts will be more. Duration @.200+ will be much higher on a good roller lobe and it will have the same or much better potential as any flat lobe. You could probably drop 8-10 degrees@.050 and still get the same cylinder fill with a roller and further reduce overlap.
