I am looking for some real world (honost) HP and/or Torque numbers for a 231 V-6 TR with a stock turbo on pump gas. This would be at the 15-17 psi range max, and chassis dyno and/or engine dyno numbers welcome.

PLEASE, NO guessing and/or estimates, already got those :)

Also, prefer WITHOUT the aid of alcohol or other "power adders" like octane booster & such.

Also, it can be with just about any other upgrade, doesn't matter. Heads, headers, downpipe, injectors, regulator, adj wastegate, fuel pump, etc, etc..., just HAS TO BE a stk turbo.

PLEASE specify if using the stk intercooler, stk intercooler with neck mod, or aftermarket intercooler.

If you have a car weight & actual drag results, that helps too!

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, how about some estimates, ideas, etc....

I was thinking around 350-400 HP

My bud was thinking 245-300 HP range

Anyone running pump gas with a 34 turbo?????

Anyone run the twin stk turbo setup from CAS on pump gas??????

Thanks-

I saw a bone stock T type, excepting an ATR cold air kit, run 270 RWHP at a dyno day in CT 2-3 years ago. I don't remember the torque.

Stock fuel pump and chip too. ;)

my friend Bob (BM Computer Src) told me he dynoed his bone stock GN a while back at 17 psi and it also had a KN and it hit 291 HP and 446 tq.

Thanks guys!

I am trying to see if I am kidding myself on doing a twin stk turbo V-8 setup on pump gas. I am shooting for 355 or 381 cu.in. If I figure on the 355 to be conservative, then it is 1.54 times the size of the 231. Soooo, if I can take the 291/446 figures times the 1.54, that gives me 448 HP, and 687 TQ. The 381 is 1.65 times the 231 size, making it 480 HP & 736 TQ.

Now one could only ASSume that it should be more with much bigger ported heads, but then again the stk GN heads are probably not much of a restriction at only 17psi. I will have more cam & spin the motor to 6500 (1000 over stk), so it should make more power, right? Or does that demand more of the turbo & make them fall off or over-spin??? Guess I should give John Craig a call again... :)

Anyone have chassis dyno figures around 480 HP & 736 TQ and know how fast the car goes???

Thanks again-

Didn't "project X" have twin stock turbos? I thought it made near 600 HP (crank) on a stock block 231 (It blew up because of this).

Jay Carter or Scott Winsett could tell you more.

I believe they went closer to 700 hp, but I believe that was all done with race fuel. That's the part I can't figure. I need the power at lower boost & cheap gas. We all know it runs better when you turn it up, but my block/setup won't support more than that right now anyway.
THANKS

Might need a small converter on that since you will only have 178 c.i. (355) to spin each turbo. Go with 3000 stall and let the smoke show begin!

I would say 500hp should be easy at only around 12psi. I wouldnt run more than that if you want it to be durable. Forged pistons and crank and 4 bolt mains, along with an intercooler would permit a bit more.

Are you going to use a TPI setup or DFI?

It will have forged pistons, steel crank, 4 bolt main, all the goodies. Really, the weakest point that will hold me back is the block. I don't have $2k to put into one right now, so I am keeping the boost limit at around 17 psi. Converter will be a true 3000-3200 stall @ 5 psi. I plan to convert a 4 bbl intake to DFI setup, got a REALLY big throttle body & upper plenum "elbow" already.

As for spoolup, they tell me with a pair of TE-60's, it will spool like MAD! :) so a pair of stockers should be super quick throttle response :D Just don't want them to be done at 4000 rpm and watch the boost drop off :(

Hoping to have this going next year, pieces coming together slowly :)

Thanks-

350-400 rear wheel horses on pump gas/ NO alky or octane boosters and 17psi with the stock turbo??????

IMPOSSIBLE!

mine[other car]was 20 -21 psi, stock turbo, intercooler,and injectors
i tuned it to a 340 horses with 104 octane, and 440 torque

so i'd say your buddy was right on the button with 245-300 at the rear tires.

just thought i would share

It seems I thought the stock turbo was a little bigger than it actually is. Movin' up to the 44's or 60-1's it seems, or???

A pair of TE-45A's would be nice, but I think the block would split in 2!

Looks like the stock intercoolers are not going to cut it either. Guess I will need to trade a lot more stuff to get all this together.

Thanks for all the input!
