When I search for trans brake nothing comes up. I can't believe nobody has ever used those words here before. Anyway, I would like some info. I found an ad on another site for the Taylor Primetime Transbrake. Anybody ever hear of it? The site says it has been in use for 10 years. Even has a pic of a GN launching with one. How hard is it to install? Can it hurt the transmission? Can anybody recommend one? Thanks!

I know PTS, CK performance, Century Transmission and ALL 2004-R transmisson gurus, have their own type of trans brake.

Is it hard on the transmission? Yes! Hard on the trans, rear end, u joints, drive shaft.

Wouldn't it depend on how much boost I launch at? I know a 15 psi boost might not be too good for parts, but a "soft" 5-10 psi launch might be ok. And it would be easier to do than having to mash the brake pedal and still risk pushing through the lights.

Can you not launch at 5-10 psi with the foot brake? Is this why you want a trans brake? If you cant launch at 5-10 psi-- Do you have the S-10 wheel cylinders in there? Big shoes on both sides of the drum? The pads adjusted properly?

I launch off the E brake before i did the S-10 wheel cylinders, and before i got my converter in there. I havent tried to not use the e brake, but it doesnt bother me pushing it down and launching, because i dont give a crap about a R/T, unless im on the pro tree, then i try to do everything as fast as possible.

Taylor Primetime Transbrake

Hi Rick:

I'm John Taylor, owner of Primetime Performance. The Taylor Primetime Transbrake that we sell is being manufactured for us by the same people that manufactured the early Stage Right transbrakes for Kevin Mallender a few years ago. His later units were made by others without the degree of precision that ours and his earlier ones had. The results were not good with those because of leakage past the valves resulting in ET loss.

I have sold my units to CK and to Performance Transmision of Las Vegas. Len at Performance swears by them. I'm certain that he wouldn't mind a phone call to verify how he likes them. (702)434-2991. He stocks my transbrake if you'd prefer to buy one from him.

I can email you the installation instructions if you'd like. Please let me know if you have any questions.
