got nailed yesterday. put on stopzilla, fixed for a while. Today new crap. Took my icons and other stuff. Have no recovery cd's. Window's XP, E-machine. What should I not buy?Only place within 50 miles is Wal-mart.
Personally I would go with something other then Vista. I switched back to XP. Had nothing but compatibility issues with Vista. I hear they are working out the kinks but those should have been worked out before they installed it in millions of computers IMO.
Dell has some of the better deals if you order with them on line. Not sure if XP is an option tho.
found the recovery cd but it won't work. No home page but my mail and favorites are still there. Getting spyware alerts like crazy. It is messing up my key board too. keeps freezing up alot. this sucks
How old is the computer? What model is it. How much money are you planning to spend on it?
Download and install this, you've got nothing to lose now. If you need to recover old data, boot it but don't perform the install yet. You can attach a usb drive and copy old data off the drives.
You can no longer buy Dell with XP installed. That ended about a week or two ago. I think you may be able to buy it with Vista, then downgrade it, but not sure.
This just in: You can buy a Dell with XP, but only XP Home, you have to pick through the refurbed section, but if you still want XP, then that is at lest an option.
I too have issues with Vista's compataibility. They are working out the bugs, but alot of things still don't work with it.
RootkitRevealerScan your system for rootkit-based malware. ... RootkitRevealer is an advanced rootkit detection utility. It runs on Windows NT 4 and higher and its output RootkitRevealer
I was going to buy two computers from Dell. Could not talk to anyone that spoke English!!!!!!, so I went down to the local computer store....end of story!!!
Spyhunter also comes with an application called Tea Timer. It monitors your registry and alerts you to any changes to it. Basically, if you are not actively installing a program, don't allow it.
