Blew my stock rear last Fall...trans brake launches at about 16 psi with 1.48 60ft times. Took about 4 teeth off the ring gear. Anyhow...the 9" rear I have to go in the car currently has 3.25 gears (TTA stock 3.27). My car with stock heads & cam with 255/50-16 MT DR's (26") the car was trapping 5,700 (~5,300 w/converter locked)...best mph 120. Went to new wheels and tires 295/55-15 MT DR's (28") car trapped ~4,600 with the converter locked...mph 122 still stock rear & gears. I have a set of Champion ported TTA heads w/Harland Sharp roller rockers and will also be doing a healthy roller cam...everything else is in signature. I figure with the new cam I'm going to want 5,700-6,200 depending on the cam. With a 28" tire looks like 3.73 gears will get me about 132 mph @ 6000 rpm...anybody else running 3.73's? Another option would be to go with 3.50 gears and with the 28" tires would probably get me closer to the 3.42 gears the GN's run...???
