Okay, so it took me awhile but I finally got around to seeing The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Wanted to wait 'til I could buy it). Although I'll give them credit for doing a pretty good job, it doesn't do justice to the original. It was after seeing House of 1000 Corpses back when, I really started to think that horror movies pretty much suck nowadays......either that or, because I saw them all first when I was young, the classics just seem better to me. Does anybody agree with this..... Has anybody seen a really good horror flick in the last 10 years or so?

No slasher fans, huh? I often have to remind myself that alot of the guys around here take their teeth out at night!;)

I'll post so you do not feel lonely, lol.

TCM is my favorite, and then the original Nightmare on elm st.
The new horrors such as the one Brad pitt was in was cool too..........if that is considered a horror???(suspence thriller).
I like the ones that are based on fact the most, but i cannot think of any that i have heard about in a long time that are worth watching.

Is a suspence thriller a horror?

There was an indie type movie called "Session 9". I thought it was pretty good. It's about these asbestos removal technicians working on restoring an old asylum for the insane. Pretty good movie.

Nothing beat TCM (original). Pretty much all other horror movies are comedy like. A great comedy/ horror set was Evil Dead/ Evil Dead 2/ Army of Darkness.

I know it's not really "horror" but American Psycho is my all time favorite movie and the book was 5000% better. Pick up the book and you will not be disappointed.

DCEPTCN I agree with you to a point. I think that most horror movies have gone for the worst. I never saw the original TCM but i thought the new one wasnt half bad. I did see Dawn Of The Dead acouple weeks back and think that movie is one of the better ones made in awhile, which isnt saying much. I have also heard that jeepers creepers 2 wasnt that bad at all. If you are into some pretty nasty looking stuff check out Cabin Fever, the previews shown on TV didnt give that movie any justice. Made it look like a regular teeny-bop horror flick but i went and rented it and it wasnt half bad.
Cheeseburger, please tell me you are thinking of Se7en. I dont know if you could consider that a horror movie but when i first saw it i was blown out of my mind how amazing that movie was. The guy they find on the bed is one of the most sedistic things i have ever encountered.

Most Hollywood producers are finding it harder to really scare people so they are trying to find out what kind of psychological things they can put in to really make people squirm.

I have a good question though,
WHAT MOVIE DID YOU SEE AT A SENSITIVE PART OF YOUR LIFE?
Everyone has that one movie that they refuse to watch because they saw it at a young age and haunts their dreams until they are wearing depends. Mine was Exorcist because I still believed in religion at that age, so it hit harder at home.

Dawn of the Dead, The Ring, Jeppers Creepers 1,2, Final Destination 1,2,all very good recent horor flicks.

The first Jeepers Creepers was OUT THERE and really good. Totally hopeless situation, the ending was harsh. The second was weak comparatively.
Most of the ones that come out these days are half assed, although they have a good budget. 13 Ghosts, House on Haunted Hill, the Cell (I guess) were all just kind of
The Ring was pretty spooky, but only at the end. The first Scream was very good too.

On the other hand, Netflix just sent me Evil Dead 1 & 2. Got Army already, there WILL be a Bruce-a-thon this week.

Edit: If you like Christian Bale (American Psycho), check out a cool sci fi he did called Equilibrium. Shows why he was picked to be the new Batman. Reworked version of Farenheit 451

Yes that was the one i referred to, the 2nd part was not bad either........but i think they are more suspence thrillers then horrors.

Freddy Kreuger was one bad dude, sure enough; but I seriously doubt he could have lived through one plumbing job with Curly, Larry, and Moe!
For real violence - The Three Stooges.

Actually, the stuff that really cost me some sleep as a kid were books.....for some reason, books made me more uneasy than movies when I was young. Of course, they had to 'based on real events'. Two books that stand out in my mind as having scared the ****ens out of me were 1: Whitley Strieber's 'Communion'. (When I was 11 I was convinced that the aliens were out there and it was just a matter of time before I ran into them.) and 2: 'The Haunted'. (About the spooked duplex in PA....I used to sit up at night when I was 12 thinking about that black cloud apparition that just went through walls.)
