I recently purchased a new TV cable from GM because I broke my old when I was pulling my trans down recently(oops, forgot to undue the bolt). When I looked at it I noticed that there were only 4 notches instead of the 6 on my old one....I thought this wouldnt be a prob....until I put it on....I have only been able to bring the light trottle shifts DOWN to 3000rpms...I'm afraid to see how high I would shift at WOT like this! What can I do? Did they give me the wrong one?

I was just trying to think of anything that would help it....I don't see how it would affect it, but would routing it differently affect it? Because I had a hard time getting the old one out, so I ran the new one in a slightly different way.

I got out and tried to drive it yesterday....it shifted around 3000 out of 1st w/ a kick that will throw you around in your seat and then I haven't gotten it to shift out of 2nd...I took it up a little north of 4000 w/ light trottle. I also noticed a tenency to stay in 2nd, even when I come to a stop at a light, when I ran to the bank this morn....I'm diving it as little as poss right now until somebody has an idea.

This morning, I figured I would mess around w/ the cable some more and I pulled it to and fro and it always shifts at the same point no matter which of the 4 clicks it is at. I pulled on the line itself and it has tension and snaps back real quick like its supposed to.

I would make sure that they gave you the correct TV cable, try to get one like your original, then if it still does it, check the governor and make sure that it looks ok.

I fought with it some more and finally got it to go far enough to where it will shift ok(waaaaaaay past any of the notches)...one tiny movement back to stiffen up the shift a hair more and it jumps to 3000...but it seems to give enough pressure @ WOT in the shifts where I have it now...but it still will short shift out of 1st at around 4000rpms or a little less if I punch it after I have taken off.

It is....I talked to my local GN guru about this and he showed me how the tv cable should move when you hit WOT....
