Just got a call from Dave England (gold TSM car) (re-evaluating on here). I couldn't make the event like I usually do, had way too much back-orders here to catch up on. Rather keep the customers happy, than to go & be further behind when I get back. Anyway, to bring people up to date, he has some new parts (mainly T/A heads) this year, and has been fighting little issues & lack of time to sort it all out this year. Didn't do much at the Norwalk event, had an issue at the Nat's & bent a bunch of valves, couldn't really make a full pass at the BPG in salem for one reason or another & finally blew a gasket too. Just not enough free time to do all the testing & sorting out necessary this year. Did a rebuild with new rings/gaskets and a few other minor things after BPG, and went to the midwest challenge without any passes on it & after thrashing all week to get it done (all by his lonesome, since all his helpers bailed on him)
.
Well, 1st pass was an easy 12 psi to make sure all was well & break it in some more, didn't say et/mph. Next pass was around 22 psi & went a 9.7x with a 1.3x 60 ft. time! He made another pass & got some MAJOR air, and felt like the steering wheel or column came loose, so he got out of it kinda fast & slammed it down. Took a chunk of concrete out I heard, but didn't hurt the car any. Turns out it was the tilt popped out of position. He went on to make the finals, and took that with a 9.9x at 136+ (spun hard on the line, 1.4x 60). He was actually approx 100# heavy too. Sorry for no exact numbers, messages & conversation wasn't great from poor phone reception out there & bad memory from really long day :frown: Basically he had a couple 9's at very conservative boost levels, and I think 3-4 passes with 60's in the 1.36-1.39 range, and mph like 136+. Just wanted to pass on he finally made some decent passes on basically a new combo, and it looks good for some fast testing later this fall! Long time overdue!!
PS- Thumbs UP on the T/A heads, working GREAT!
I will see if Dave can post details & Sun action when he gets back. Man I am missing the fun! Working till 10:00 on a sat nite sucks!
