They call the new rules enhancements. Higher entry fees for sportsman drivers but feel sorry for poor John Force because he lost a couple sponsors. (Maybe he should have showed off his wifes titties ) A few years ago we had to put exh on our generators that exited above the trailer, then came mandatory full face helmets and driver suits for 9 second car. This year is tethers for header collectors and get ready ............................yup engine diapers are coming to a track near you soon. DOT up hear has permits for our trailers and annual inspections. Street racing is looking better every day

I agree 100% however the cost to go race is just getting stupid and that's what starts those kind of comments, myself included. My friends race superstock and I would love to build a stocker but the costs to race are just too much for me. The travel alone makes you want to take up bingo

I have to admit I didn't know about this rule. I mounted a GoPro on my car 2 weeks ago both inside and on roof and truck lid facing backwards to catch chute opening and it is secured by the GoPro suction cup and it stayed in place fine. We also mounted it to the scoop on Art Paltz's dragster and it stayed on at 170mph.

We did it during time shots that were single lane and not during competition and if asked to take it off I would have.

The GoPro 3 Black edition took some amazing high def video, 1080p, 60 frames per second and the camera is half the size of a cigarette box.

I'm all for safety, but why is it that a new Mustang, Camaro, etc. gets a pass on a bar 'till 10.0, but we don't?

NHRA is just too fucking random and abitrary when they post up rules. If it's rule, it's a rule forever, right or wrong.

New stuff, however, gets a cursory look by race officials and is sent straight to the bean counters at the insurance agency for the final ruling.

The soul of NHRA was gutted (with no fight from track operators) in the 80's because the "Safety Safari" made for good TV coverage and the NHRA now continues to cow-toe to a bunch of grey suited idiots in New York office buildings on Wall Sreet who amoratize risks to institute policies, yet know nothing about drag racing and the risks and/or thrills associated with it.

In turn, they force track operators into indefensable positions and situations that chase more and more people away from the sport.

No other sanctioning body bans a "Go Pro" attachment system in sportsman category events.

Fuck the NHRA.

pick a new car- any new car will do- and do some crash testing on it and compare the results to the same tests done on a mid 80's G body... the new stuff is probably as strong as a G body with a legal cage... and the engineering on a mid 10 second new Mustang or Camaro will be much closer to oem than what you'd do to your GN in your garage, so it's a known quantity... they make rules for the lowest common denominator, and it's dictated by the amount of risk that the insurance people are willing to accept..

but that's a whole different subject than a digital camera that weighs a couple of ounces being mounted inside the car- which might very well be some misguided attempt to protect their copyrights or something like that which they disguised as a safety rule...

When the Stock appearing cars were the hot ticket they were allowed to go 11.00 with out a bar and I think that is about right. Now if you look in NHRA stock eliminator 12 second cars have to have a bar. As far as the new cars, yes I think the new cars would crash test better than ours BUT they are not crash tested for barrel roles at 130 MPH and that is what those cars can trap in a 10 second et. I think the rules are pushing more people away than bringing them to the track. Everything has a cycle and NHRA has the attitude that they are the show. I don't think street racing is a good idea BUT I do see why people don't want to go to a track these days
