I dropped my freshly rebuilt trans about 2 months ago in pursuit of a converter change...finally getting the converter and will be putting trans back in soon...of course I drained all the fluid out before I dropped the trans to make it lighter...but it has sat on my garage floor without fluid in it for about 2 months...is it going to be ok when I put fluid back in it and get ready to fire up the car? I was using Valvoline Dexron III w/ Mercon fluid...also when installing a new converter do I have to add fluid to the converter directly before sliding it onto the shaft? or can I just install it dry and put the trans in and then fill the whole thing with fuild at the dipstick???

Trans should be fine, Add 1 to 2 quarts to the convertor before install, it goes in slow so wait, Then after the trans is in pour 5-6 quarts in before you start it, THen start it and check, it will probably need more if it was drained completely, around 10-11 all together depending on convertor size and if you have adeep pan or not(may take 12 or more with deep apan)
