well I finally got back to the track to try out locking the converter,980 valve springs and an f-body radiator.I figured since I had no knock anywhere I could bump up the boost to 25 from 24.
Well The new parts deff ran better, but at about 92 mph down the strip it picked up 15 deg detonation instantly outta no where with good 02's and oil blew all over my downpipe on the pass side leaving a huge trail of smoke behind me.Still went 12.10 at 112 with a 1.82 60ft.
pulled the plugs, the middle plug on the pass side had a nice coat of fresh oil all over it.
Got my fingers crossed its just a head gasket!!!!
maybe 25lbs ways just to much for the stock gaskets?

Correction 25lbs and 15 degrees of KR is too much for the stock head gaskets.

Make sure you didn't pop the hose of the fuel pressure regulator or map sensor. It's always best to make a shakedown pass at lower boost before turning up the wick.
Sometimes stuff happens and it was the last straw that broke the camels back scenario
If it's just a gasket, get the heads milled flat. Don't just change the hg because it will pop again

I was running 93 octane and alky.Timing was 25/23 at 25lbs boost.wideband was reading btwn 10.80-11.0 narrow band was .780 to 800's.
If I was smart enough I would post the powerlogger file.

Right click on your PL file, send it to compressed zip file and it will pop up in your folder with the rest of your files, click on attachments on your TB.com reply to this post and browse the PL folder and click on the zip you just created, click upload and you're done

Sounds like a tired headgasket unless a hose like Razor mentioned. Gaskets will get tired over time from small blasts of detonation over the years & then finally they just let go.

I regularly ran 25-26 lbs boost with felpro head gaskets, with my last motor on 93 and alky, no problems.

If the AFR was where it needed to be.. then +1 :D

If it started knocking 15 deg at 92 mph, and you stayed in it and trapped at 112 (20 mph of accelerating under knock), that's why your head gasket blew. I hit mine with 28 on nitrous and the only reason it blew was because I was ahead of the other car and I couldn't pull my foot out fast enough when the kr started.

Got the head off today and dropped it of at the machine shop to make sure it is straight and true. The other head had approx 150lbs in all 3 cylinders cold.
Should I change the other side just for good measure or leave it alone since it has good compression?

I would do both now instead of waiting for it to go after getting it back together. :)

+1 .. If the car was broke down at an event and you need to race it the next day.. then only one side and get it back together.

If the car is at your shop.. do both and dont look back.
