This might be a stupid question and it might have been asked before. Can i run a non lock up converter in my trans? The trans is just a stock rebuild and has a lock up in it now. Thanks

install the non lockup kit and yes
transgo kit 7-ccv

kit requires that you pull the check capsule from the end of the trans input shaft and remove the small oring
the supplied NL valve replaces the OE setup in the pump but you dont need to pull the pump to change it over
you can access the pump to do the mod by just dropping the pan and remove the retainer clip , slide out the old parts slide in the new, replace the retainer ring and close her back up

instructs are in the kit

pan gasket, trans fluid
a non lock converter and the bolts it needs to secure it to the flywheel because converters seem to never use the stock metric bolts

Sorry Paul, I don't see how to access the pump to replace the valve by dropping the pan. Will the attached photo help?

i did the swap on sat guys and it was a snap. Really easy to do and thanks for all the help. I just had one other concern now. I put in a art carr 3200 n/l up converter and i can only get 0 lbs of boost before the car wants to brake the tires loose but when i let off the brake it shoots up to 20lbs right away. is that normal? My turbo is a precision 5431. with a .63 housing.(older stage 3 housing).

What rpm is 0psi? That is what a higher stall is supposed to do though. Through rpm, even at opsi, you are making more power than you were at a lower rpm with even more boost. And it is supposed to fly to 20psi. Check your tune to make sure you have enough enrichment to keep up.

Side question, what happens if you put a NL converter but don't do the pump mod? I know a guy who did that on a 700R4, wondering if damage is done.

not to high jack the thread but do all kits /converters require you to pull the check ball out of the front of the shaft? also how do you remove the check ball?

It should be pulled for more fluid flow.
A Dent Puller will work.
