Luckily I have only 6 more years left in the Military, that will give me 24, I can retire, tuck tail and run from Fayetteville... I love NC but hate living in Fayetteville. Military towns are all the same this one just has more a$$ clowns per square mile than other Installations... Gotta love Paratroopers... I guess I just insulted myself :D

OMG I stopped there too on my way home from FLA. But that one in Fayetteville was a cute story. Actually got a great chuckle with my dad while stopped there.

I forgot to mention that i also tried to contact them again today and did so from 8:30 until 11:30 and never did.

All i ever get is a recorded message saying " may i have your attention please,we are experiencing a higher than normal volume of calls and your waiting time may be excessive"

or

an operator saying " all circuits are busy now, please try your call again at a later time of the day.

after hearing these messages for 3 hours i just wanted to strangle someone. ;)

I'm pretty sure this is a computer mixup some how but really frustrating not being able to talk to them and find out for sure what it is.

I moved out of state for 11 years. When I moved back, I was able to get my original NC DL# back. I thought that was pretty cool.

Well there is one dip**** that came from there..

maybe identity theft problem

Think maybe you have an identity theft problem going on? I once received a notice stating that my license were being revoked for charges brought against me in Louisiana , here’s the kicker, I had never been to Louisiana but I had to go to straighten that crap out, ended up taking me almost a year and several trips. Turns out some one had a lot of my personal info, got arrested and posed as me. Would have thought once they had figured out the guy that got arrested at the time was not who he said he was everything would have been straightened out at that point but it wasn’t.

I thought about that since some of my personal info is out there somewhere floating around from my T-Type being stolen a few years ago and i had a lot of personal papers in the car at the time, and a drug addicted relative that stole some items from me also. But this has been about 6 years ago, i would have thought it would have happened a lot sooner if that was what it's about with NC. Also when i talked to the DMV in Columbus,Ohio they told me NC only had my name and date of birth listed and no mention of my drivers license number or ssn.

I have the mailing address for the NC DMV so i might just write them a letter and see if i can get a reply since i'm unable to get them on the phone.

Yeah, but the other jackhole is from Mass!! And at least our disgraced, but perfectly permed political hack is out of office!

Ok,now that I've calmed down somewhat, I'll explain my remark about N.C.

First i want to apologize to anyone who was offended by my statement about North Carolina, and yes i do know the state is supposed to be in capital letters. I did it that way on purpose.

I just wanted to do to that state what they did to me and give no reason why and without any means of contact.

I went to the BMV here in Ohio on Friday to get my drivers license renewed and was told that i couldn't because the state of North Carolina has put a block on my license and without any reason why they did.

They give me a phone number for the DMV in N.C. and i spent the rest of the day Friday trying to get ahold of them and couldn't. Around 5pm i called the DMV in Columbus and asked them if they knew why my license had been blocked by N.C. and they said they didn't know. They said the only thing that is showing from N.C. about the block is my name and date of berth, they didn't have my social security number or drivers license number or anything about the reason for it.

I haven't been anywhere near N.C. in the past 12 years.

I retired from the military in 2001 and have only been out of state 3 times since then and that was to KY,MI,PA.

Again i never meant any personal offense to anyone from N.C. just really PO about this mess.
funny you should post this, 2 weeks ago I went to get a duplicate license, they tell me my license is block because of 2 tickets that happened 19 years ago!! I just called my attorney & told them to handle it.

Do not worry Pat. The ability to type with out making a mistake is not an indication of I.Q. No matter who you are, everybody makes mistakes. Except for my wife of course. I once told her she was wrong but she let me know real fast that she was always right. My mistake.

As far as the rest of the story, yes, NCDMV can be a pain. A SSN, is not connected to DL#. That is why if you I.D. engrave something you should use a DL# instead of a SSN. License numbers with addresses are searchable through law enforcement databases. SSN's are not. If there is a block then it is probably most likely either an unpaid ticket or property tax that somehow got linked to your name or address either from the time you were here or from someone else using your personal information.

As far as the slow pace of NC. Green acres anyday over bright lights, big city.

Little6pack you are welcome to come back and give our state another try but if you don't want to then you are more than welcome to keep yourself on the north side of the line. We've got the south side covered fine without you. :D

Hey Steve. I see I'm not the only one who is up this early.

Got to go wake the chickens up soon.

I'd dig into pretty quick....You maybe like me, receive a letter in the mailing telling you to mail your license in. The guy that cause me so much trouble only had my name and address, the police of Louisiana pulled the DL number off of what he had giving them up to that point. Guy was arrested under my name, taken to jail where they found out several days later he was someone else. So all of the original paper work had my name on it. To get that crap straightened out was more than just phone call, but more like several trips, hearing, etc.

First off I would like to say that NC and SC to to ENTIRELY DIFFERENT STATES!

I would also like to point out that NC and VA were the only 2 southern states that had abolished slavery before the Civil War. ***Neat little fact I learned recently and was waiting to drop it:biggrin: ****

Until you have spent a little time in the communities you will never see the whole picture of an area...

There is plenty of ignorance in NC. Trust me, I think I have hired and fired a good proportion of them:frown:

I have to even say on my Trip to Cali to meet Bruce and buy the board I some saw some strange things in that Airport:tongue: Then here comes Bruce with his Nascar hat on and we got into his Chevy and rode out. It was almost like home....

Far as the DMV goes, you probably just caught a bad day. We call up there and usually hold no more than 20 mins before talking to someone...

What number are you calling? Let me know and if I got a better number I will PM it to you. They do have a lot of red tape but they usually tell you pretty quick what needs to be done! They want their $;)

I wonder if the boys from Ohio are just sore because they know their beloved Buckeyes are going to get an Longhorn ass whoopin' tonight?

Not sure If I would call it an ass whoopin' But you are correct, Texas has the better team... The best part of the season for me was when Toledo( a MAC team) beat Michigan in "The Big House".

I imagine the DMV is inundated with calls regarding our state's new vehicle inspection process. As with any government decision, it has created a big freaking mess.

I do like the fact that we don't have to deal with those inspection stickers anymore.

I do like the fact that we don't have to deal with those inspection stickers anymore.

I think that is going to be a bigger mess IMO!

I think it is going to give officers more a reason to have to stop cars...

If you have no visible sticker on the car they are going to have to check your paper work:confused:

Big Mess and lots of tickets...

The number they gave me is 919-715-7000 and when i called Columbus DMV they tried to get me an alternate number to call but there wasn't one they could find.

I don't have any outstanding fines or any other types of money owed to NC that are past due.

I did get a speeding ticket once when passing thru NC i believe it was near Ashville but i paid that. That was in 1995 i remember that one because it was so stupid.

I was on my way to SC and it was 4am and i was driving along in the right hand lane and i see in my rearview mirror headlights coming up real fast. 3 cars they passed me like i was standing still a short time later i see another set of headlights, and i thought to myself if he was trying to keep up with them he was going to have a hard time in his slow car. As this one got closer to me he immediately slowed down and jumped in behind me then turned his flashing lights on and pulled me over, he didn't have the lights on when he was chaseing after those other cars.

When he came up to my car door, i asked him why he was pulling me over and he said, because you were speeding. I said no the 3 cars that had just passed me that were in front of him, they were the ones speeding.

This is the remark that makes me remember this one.

He said " Oh no, you were going faster than they were"

I can only guess the reason i was going faster than they were to him was because i had out of state plates, and he was pretty sure i wasn't going to come back and go to court to dispute his claims.

I have been to a lot of states on the East coast,West coast and alot of others and yes there are people in every one of them that will make you wonder how they are even able to breathe with the lack of smarts in some of those heads. ;)

The reason i mentioned the ssn is because i do have it on my drivers license. If i had an attorney it would make this a lot easier but i've never had the need to have one, ever.

Go here!

NCDOT Division of Motor Vehicles

That is the right number! Maybe it was a bad day but usually we get right through and get an answer pretty quick...

Good luck!

Thanks for posting that link. I had already looked there over the weekend.

I was able to get through to the NC DMV this morning and even though i don't agree with what they said and want. I don't have my receipt were i paid the fine i received in 1995, so just to clear this up i sent them the late fee that was supposedly due them. The lady told me to send it to the NC Drivers License Audit Unit. Sounds like a pretty good way to generate revenue for a state, doesn't it. Go back through the traffic violation records and pull those that are out of state and are so old that you know they won't be able to provide the receipt to prove it was paid on time or at all, and they can put a block on your drivers license until you pay what they want.Strange that they have never contacted the state of Ohio since 1995 to collect the late fee owed by me.

Thanks for the replies and help. :)
