Times at the track can be all over the board, even in the exact same car. Just because you own a fast car, doesn't mean you know how to race it. I have seen people with some killer cars over the years cry because they couldn't get what they should out of it. You put a good driver behind the wheel and you see what the car can truly do. A friend of mine had a '68 Z-28 that consistantly ran mid 12's. The kid that bought it couldn't get anything better than alow 14 from it. Don't think everything you see at the track is all there is to a car. You may just end up loosing a pink slip or two over it. Mark :D :D :D

TTA89

That stands true for many cars that race at NED.

I have seen drivers there line up the rear wheels at the staging lines.
I have seen guys with potentially quick cars sleep or spin outta the hole. Then next round they can click off a really good time.

Some of these guys with bigger turbos or IC's bought there GN's
with those mods & may not know how to tune them yet alone drive them..

Next time maybe you should point those poor GN owners toward this website so they can learn.

oh no....not this type of post..

whenever someone asks for stock times for GNs, T-Types, GNX, or TTA.... a person will always come out with some god awful slow times and attempt to convince everyone else that their cars are SLOW. I can't see how someone can claim these rediculous times with a straight face.

You have to take into consideration...and THESE considerations have a major impact on performance:
1. General Tune of automobile
2. Driver ability
3. Track conditions
4. Outside temp
5. Real Octane rating of fuel

***As far as I am concerned...if a car can runs off certain numbers XX @ XXX miles per hour....regardless if its 20 degrees outside or whatever...the car is XX @ XXX mph capable- PERIOD! Not this post...but in another similiar post a "lamo" was claiming that ALL GNXs and TTAs run 13.8-13.9 stock and GNs are high 14s regardless of the factors below. No "ifs" buts or "ands"... Sorry...but LAMO is the only word I can come up with that best depicts someone making such a "generalization" about every owner that has run off better numbers in stock config.

Back in 1986, 14.1 - 13.9 was FASSSTTTT!!!! 200 HP was a lot. Performance cars had 180 HP or more

Mustangs ran mid to high 14's, IROC's ran high 14's to 15's, Corvette's ran mid 14's.

12.9's or better were reserved for race cars.

Exactly Ungn

What if I was to say ALL GNXs and ALL TTAs in stock config run ONLY 13.8-13.9 (no exception)! regardless of the obvious factors that may come into play...I would have a hard time keeping a straight face.

And in the same breath stated that ALL LS-1s are high 12s capable. Wouldn't I look like an IDIOT. I can tell you with 110% certainty that my neighbor's "close to stock" 98 LS-1 Auto Camaro would get worked over by my "close to stock" TTA...no question about it. Does that mean my TTA is running mid 12s? :D

i bought my first new gn in april of 1987 and took it to our nationals at bowling green a day or two later- it was a 400 mile trip so the car had a little over 400 miles on it when i got there-- the car had a radio and air conditioning was standard- but no other options --no posi -- roll up windows

i new nothing about racing the car which led to alot of wheel spin-- i had only three runs down the track - they all were within a hundredth of 14.70 and they went from 93.5 to 94 miles per hour --in sept of 1987 i bought another new 87 gn only this time with most all the options ($18,6??)-- took that car to the nationals in 1988 - quality engineering chip and test pipe - street radials -- 2.00+ 60 foot times - best 13.50 @ 104+mph

a short time after getting home i took this car to norwalk - this time i put m&H racemasters on- took off the sway bar - test pipe-same chip - k&n filter - ran 12.95 at 105+ 1.87 60 foot time

kinda funny now every car out there does low 14's...hell you can get a 4 cylinder dodge neon in the high 13's...now that is sick...that's just how technology has grown since 1987...

back then our cars bone stock were the fastest thing out there...nowadays if your car is stock you WILL get beat by ALOT of cars...that's why if you plan on driving your GN and not storing it as an original, it's time for MODZZZZ:D
