Just got a freshly rebuilt trans off of a guy for pretty cheap. My T is in need of a trans. The trans that I got off the guy has an "85OJ" code. The trans looks really good inside and I would really like to use it since I have it right here. Are these trans. stronger/weaker than BRF trans and is it going to work in a buick? The code says its out of an 85 Olds. 307. Thanks Bryan

Id pull the vb/plate, servo, and governor off your other trans and install on this trans or it will shift like a pu$$y. Id also replace the boost valves in the pump with at minimum the ones that are in the other trans or preferably larger ones that come in a kit like CK's.

Is the VB, gov, or servos going to be worn in my old trans or should I get new ones? Same with the boost valves. CK offers the shift recalibration kit w/ or w/o servo not sure what to get here?

Id use the parts that were in the BRF trans. They wont be worn unless a bunch of metal circulated through the trans. CK's servo will work well in any trans from stock to high hp. It will increase the shift firmness buy itself. Even without opening up feed holes in the plate and using larger boost valves. You should call CK and ask what calibration to go with. If you have a stock converter you will probably want accumulated 1-2 shifts or it will really snap your neck with the big servo. Id use the CK kit myself. I have many times.

Bought the bigger boost valves and hi tech valve body from CPT. Going to use old governor, servo off the brf. Any trick to installing the boost valves?

Do them out of the car if you can.

If it's in the car when you install the Pressure Regulator circuit, a floor jack is your friend to compress the spring and get the snap ring installed.

A floor jack?? It is a pretty small spring. I usually press up with a screw driver in one hand while I install the snap ring with the other.
