Can an old dish washer be used as a car parts cleaner?
Has anyone done this?

Instead of throwing my old dishwasher away I am wondering if I could use it out in my yard as a parts claner & run a hose to it.

Why not?!?! Get an old oven too so you can do your own powdercoating. :D

Next you'll be living out in the shed with your appliances:D

Sometimes I wish I had my own garage with apartment above just to get away from the kido's & wife.

That's what a lot of tranny shops use to wash parts...it's like a big industrial dishwasher...friend used to own an AAMCO and I used to take dirty greasy parts there all the time and wash them...it used some type of cleaning solvent and heat...

OH you mean your supposed to use an old one! now I know why the wife is always raising hell.:D

yes they work great as a parts washer.

I suppose you could rig it up to the hose and an extention cord. It could discharge into a 5 gal bucket. Maybe something like Simple Green or other water soluable cleaner to the detergent.

Before I move (from a previous resident), I put all my hand tools into the dishwasher and run it through the cycle. Soap and all. Makes my tools clean and gets all the grease out of the handles, sockets and the engravings. Then I just grease up the rachets and my tools look good as new. Now that you know, you might want to do a zabaseach, so that if you move into one of my previous residents, the first thing you'll do is replace the dishwasher :D .
