Was thinking about getting an 84-87 3.8 N/A Regal to drive daily, anyone have any opinions on these as drivers? Im assuming they're slow, but not really too concerned with that. Hows gas mileage with these things?

I drove a 83 for 4 years as a daily with no issues other than what you already know of like window motor and a little oil leak. Slow handled like poo but looked good.

I had an 85 Bonneville with the 3.8L and 3 spd in high school. It wasn't really good on gas since it was carbed. Top speed was 87 mph. 0-60 was 18 seconds.

I had one of these about 6 years ago. Yes they are slow. A school bus could leave one of these in the dust.

However they make great daily drivers. Mine had 72k on it when I purchased it in '05. It was a very smooth driving car. The vacuum brakes could stop the car on a dime. I had a few people ride in the car who complimented that it was "comfortable".

As for gas mileage...I'd say 16 mpg city and 22 hwy, if you have the TH-200 metric 3 speed auto and 2.41 rear gears like mine had.

*I do recall I had the original window sticker to my car, and where it listed the fuel economy ratings, it just said 21 mpg. That's probably hwy.

fueleconomy.gov sorta confirms it: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Powe...year2=1984&make=Buick&model=Regal&srchtyp=ymm
