I had on offer for my SS today.. from a good friend...

He wants to trade 3 of his vehicles for my SS...

1) 84 GMC Fullsize pickup 4x4, Cab is rusty, but new(replacement) cab is included. Replacement cab is overall good shape. rest of truck is Ok with working A/C, power windows, locks etc...

2) 79 Elcamino... just over 100K, original 305 with recent headwork, edelbrock performer intake, carb. TH350, A/C, alarm with keyless entry. Mild rust starting

3) 90 IROC, L98, 114K daily driver, has some daily driver battle scars...

++++ A whole crapload of parts... (which is part of the problem. I just cleaned up the garage...)

Weldwheels (6) 15x10, 15x8, 15x4

Misc TPI stuff

other stuff I dont know what to do with

Of course, this means less space in the garage again... but no car in the garage...

I have notions about keeping the IROC, but I know the car has it's share of bondo.

Opinions, comments, snide remarks?... LOL

Wow then you would have 3 more cars

I thought the whole Idea was too make more room for you, If you did this trade then you will have too find room for 3 more cars as well as all the Parts...........Of course its up to you......my 2 cents

Realistically, the elcamino my nephew will buy...

I'm sure I can find a buyer for the truck as-is

So only the IROC and parts will remain (unless I sell that as well) ... so If my SS is gone, I dont lose any space...

too much stuff, not enough time.

I know I cant sell the SS, with all I have put into it for what I would like to...

It would get me out of the hole for a little while, while I re-set my priorities...

You and your SS have history together, that has to count for SOMETHING...

In my opinion, the three trade cars are nothing unique. Clean Montes are few and far between. If it were me, it would take something really special to part with a car that has meaning. And before Geoff brings it up :p Yes, I sold my '70 El Camino to placate my wife, but at the time that fit my definition of "something really special". ;) And even so, I still have regrets... :(

BUT, the bottom line is: It's your car - will you kick yourself later for trading it?

I would give anything to get my 69 SS chevelle clone back... That car and I have history.

Time and Time again... I have dumped countless amounts of blood, sweat, tears, and cash into my rides, to make them top quality. Realistically, I wanted an ElCamino before I bought the SS, but could not find one to my liking... hence I wound up with my second choice, the SS... being my second choice, I dont have that "feel" I had for my Chevelle, my 69 RS-Z28, and others...

I parted with my '87 442 to finance my wedding... and even my wife told me to keep it.... I shoulda listened... dont even ask how much I had tied up in that car... That car had history...

I'm only looking at the cash value, so I can move on to other things...

Tommy, youre right. the three cars have no value to me.... except the cash they can bring... All of you know I'm looking for a T/R, but have not yet found one to my standards... at a price I want to spend. (I'm a cheapo bastid anyway) Knowing I'll dump crazy money into a car to get it exactly how I want it... I hate to overspend on the car like I did for the SS... only to lose big in the end anyway...

I'll have regrets, I know I will, it's just a part of the disease.. sellers remorse...

Well Rob, I can certainly see your points, especially about pouring money into a project to do it your way and not getting it back out.

Since the SS was your second choice, my argument about history has less merit. On the plus side, the three trade cars should be EASY to sell. Do you think the total will meet or exceed what you would take for the SS?

Good luck in your decision

Oh, and I'm not even going to mention what a '69 RS-Z28 brings in these days... :p :D

You and I were talking about the barrett-jackson auction yesterday when you were here... 69 RS-Z28, 24,500 ORIGINAL miles. Lemans blue, white stripes, completely stock and unmolested.... youre right, i wont go there... *kicks self in A$$*

I sold the Z because I simply was afraid some idiot would hit it and destroy it's value... I shoulda parked it and covered it... but I think you guys know I have to be able to drive my toys...

I have toyed with the idea of surrendering the plates, and cancelling the insurance, so it is not sucking up cash... at least until I complete the LT1 swap... then I dont know what I'll do with it... most monte lovers are "old school" types who shy from EFI...

The three trade cars are all easy sells, and I could easily net what I wanted for the SS without selling off all the parts... but then I would not have anything to put the extra parts on, now, would I?...

Second choice or not.. there is still some history... heck, I sold my T/R to Geoff to give me garage space... because i could not see the car sitting outside while I finished the motor work...

Well Robbie,
If you do decide to trade your SS for those cars is a hard descision, me personal i wouldn't like Tommy said alot of blood, sweat, bitchin, grimping, cussing, swearing, etc......:D ;) :p it is a hard choice though, but if you still decide to, all i know in the future, i'm going to see another "GARAGE SALE" :D
nah but all in all, too much history involve, wish you luck buddy :)

You will aways see a garage sale with my name attatched...

I've still got my special stash of T/R parts awaiting the right car...

I think I solved my problem...

I found my friend a buyer for the elky...

so it's back to planning my LT1 swap...

OR not... I could use an influx of cash to fuel some other projects for the time being... and have my eyes on a couple of 442's...

not to mention a couple of T/R's... (hint)

decisions, decisions...
