I'm looking for the steel shim-style GM head gaskets as used stock on the 84/85 hotairs. I was hoping to find the original GM part number so I can get another set. Does GM still make/sell these? Are they available from anyplace else? I know the RJC headgaskets are similar design, probably better, but I'm on a budget and 140+ for head gaskets is more than I'd like to spend if at all possible. If anyone has the GM part number for these gaskets I'm hoping I can track a set down. Thanks!

Well, it was my understanding that RJC makes and sells a steel shim-style head gasket modeled after the hot-air stock pieces (but a little beefier and with a few modifications). I have heard really good things about those gaskets, but again, my car is a mostly stock hotair, and since I don;t really NEED the top-of-the-line head gasket, I can't really justify spending that much if it can be at all helped.

Since GM apparently discontinued production of the shim style gaskets, does anyone have a set of them floating around, or know a vendor who might? Again, any help is appreciated!

Oh, and thanks for that part number billy, im hoping if i at least have a part number it'll help in tracking down any sets out there.

I have a large stock of these gaskets if you cannot locate them as they have been dis-continued for years.:)

In the "day", I worked on lots of hot air cars.

Nick, come on you know you don't want to give out your hidden stash. ;) and back in the day eh. We all know how you love working on them ;)
