Changed filter (again:rolleyes: ) this time with kit from Advanced. Filter came with oring installed. I installed it and had pan bolted up when I noticed at the bottom of the box the kit also came with the newer style "lip seal", as they refer to it in the instructions (hard orange seal). Seems to be working fine as is, was just wondering if one was prefered over the other since there obviously was a change at some point for some reason and I dont know why.

If this is the orange "ribbed" seal, that is the one I prefer. The O-ring can still let the filter fall and cause the pump to suck air above the filter neck. I have NEVER had one with the orange seal let the filter fall out. Both on the 200's and 700's. HTH.:D

Yeah the orange ribbed one. Well, like I said so far so good. The tranny is back to shifting firm like it was before so the oring is doing what its supposed to. I also welded on a drain plug on the pan this time around, so if for any reason I have to pull it down again and swap out for the ribbed seal it wont be as big a deal.
By the way the filter in this kit from Advanced actually has a filter element in it, not a screen like the other I just took out when I was having shift troubles. I thought I remembered someone in the past trying to find out where to get these. Again, dont know which would be the prefered of the masses, but from my experience thus far I think I like the filter element ones.
