On page 46 of the latest issue of GMHTP (July 2004) there is a tech article on a rebuild for a 200-4R.... It's part one of the Dynotech Performance (Eric Schertz) $1495 Hi-Pro rebuild and in this issue it basically takes you through them removing and disassembling the 200 from Rick Jensen's '87 T for inspection.... I'm interested in this cause I know sooner or later (hopefully later) mine will need a rebuild and it should give me a good idea on what all I will need as well as how much I can expect to spend.... As the article said Eric is a proven builder of the 200 (having run 9.57 @141mph with one of his 200s) so this should turn out to be a good source of info for those of us that will be needing a rebuild in the future:)

Got the Hi-Pro in one car and the regular $1200 rebuild in the other car.

Both work great. :)

i liked my Hi-pro tranny. it ran hard and lasted. only problem i had was the band anchor broke. just realize for 1495 your not gonna get a 9 sec tranny. should live in the low 11 sec to mid 10 sec range for awhile.

I'm pretty sure that's the installed price.

If not R+R is usually $200 or so.

Not to bust your bubble Matt, I ran 9.70's to 10.0 for a year with oiur Hi-pro units, before switching to a 400. The same tranny is still running. As for cost we get 200.00 for the install plus the trans.

no bubble bursted here Jack, i loved my unit! i'm not argueing about that fact. i just see alot more exspensive 200s in sub 10 sec cars. Erics tranny (1495.00) doesnt have any billet internals last i checked or a t-brake(Erics doesnt seem to like them in 200s) i still think its the best bang for the buck out there though!

I agree its going to be a pretty cool article and hopefully help some people out. But I do agree that its a bit misleading when everybody talks about the 1500 dollar unit, when it contains none of the billet internals to last into the 11s, you need at least a hardened drum and input shaft. Hell I've broken an OD planetary unit on my car, and its only an 11 sec car. I ended up going fully billet on mine because if it was good till the 10s or 9s in most cars, some how I could break it in the 12s :D
