What would cause a part throttle 2-3 shift flare?
I have noticed when I put my foot in it (but not all the way to the floor) that I get a flare going from 2nd to 3rd.
TV cable is adjusted properly and I run 1/2 quart overfill on fluid.

Install one of Bruce's Shift kits with the High PSI reg valve,,total cost is $170 mine was flaring on the 2,3 shift and now I am seeking medical attention due to the whiplash

The 1,2 shift is the harshest of all the gears ,I have to ask how to lighten that one up ...HTH

Thanks AsphaltAnihil8r
But, there already is a kit and hi psi valve in it. I was thinking along the lines of tightening the bands or if a Super Servo would help.

I would bet it is set up and clearences. No way to cure but replace.

Thanks Bruce.
Being transmission challenged... Is this a in car or out of car thing? Need to know before I take it to TransWare.

Hmmm been doing some more reading, and am wondering.
I don't have this problem at WOT, shifts fine. Only at part throttle.
If i'm following this right ... It is the time gap between the 2nd gear band releasing and the direct clutch being applied that causes the flare. What is responsable for the timing of this action?

Paul

Two possibilities. The band and/or direct clutches are worn or out of spec as far as travel goes (usually because of wear). Or the servo pistons and accumulator piston pin bores are worn and allowing crossleaking. I've solved this same problem in plenty of fresh rebuilds by other people simply by changing those pistons. Even after the firmest pressure regulator spring was used. Of course, if the friction elements are already hurt, changing the pistons will do little. Good luck.
