dumb question...is the grommet easy to pop out and install another with everything on the intake together in normal driving condition? Mine is wore out nicely and needs to be replaced.

there are a couple tricks to installing if you do search on board.

easy to remove, installing however was another issue as i was one of quite a few that..... threw tools, cursed at the neighbor for looking in at me, pulled out some hair...you get the idea

It is a PITA - maybe because none of the parts stores had the right part. The best fit in the manifold was on one that would not let the valve insert.

I got pissed and just sealed it up - No Dirty Air In My Engine

I got the replacement one in the "HELP" brand at Pepboys. Do a search for te part #. The old one was a relatively easy to pop out. Be carefull not to push it in. I sprayed the new one with some silcone and pushed it in. It wasn't impossible but like the sparkplugs you just got to figure it's going to be a pita so relax and take your time. Good luck.

Be prepared to come up with some really fun and new words while taking on this project.

Be careful when pulling out the old grommet to make sure you dont push into the intake.

I found when installing the new one its best to wipe the area down and have the new one dry and clean of any oil. I know this sounds wierd and backwards but i stuggled for over an hour after I "lubed" up the new one with some oil to aid in slipping it in, after cleaning it off and wiping dry it went right in there!

also ordered my from autozone cause it was missing out of the help section.

I found that the HELP section has about ten different possible choices for GM 6 cylinder/3.8/Buick V6...half of them were not even close, I bought all the others and non were right.

I did this with the intake off the car and it was still a PITA
